My self-summary
I'm always striking a bargain between rationality and spirit. I think it's essential to know your facts and treat others with respect, but not to let go of the passion that drives you.

Obligatory personality inventory information: INFP-T.

I am a sponge for information. I would suck up an entire library into my head if I could. But I'm glad this is impossible - I think the staggering expanse of human knowledge and experience is beautiful. I'd rather go to a play than a movie, and I will dance at any opportunity. I never buy cards that have any writing inside of them.

A dream of mine is to truly master a second language. I'm very interested in different places and cultures! I also do some volunteering and social activism and would like to do more.

Most of all, despite whatever intellectual leanings I have, I really enjoy just the very simple things in life with people I really care about. Looking to find someone who will be at the top of that list.
What I’m doing with my life
I study neurolinguistics - how brains do language. I love doing science. Writing grants, papers and job applications; these things do not fill me with joy.

I'm planning to continue research for a while and then become a professor.

Other than that, just trying to figure it all out.
I’m really good at
The pronunciation of new speech sounds. I take pride in my ability to minimize my accent when speaking in another language.

My musical tastes largely come from my parents' record collection from the '60s and '70s.

Theodore Bikel Interview
The six things I could never do without
Here's three:
・A good pub or coffee shop
・Hard puzzles and mysteries to solve
・Someone to share my ideas with
I spend a lot of time thinking about
・Minds, brains, language.
・Global politics and society - why is the world the way it is? Why isn't it different?
・Friends and family and my experiences with them.
・How silly everyone is when you step back and look.
・What's for dinner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hosting a small group of friends at my apartment, with a bottle or two of wine, good conversation, music, and a little dancing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once crashed my bike and ruptured, well, tissue in the vicinity of my groin. Three stitches and a couple weeks later I was up and running again.
You should message me if
・You are intelligent
・You value creativity, curiosity and honesty
・You are passionate about something(s)
・You want to make the world better than it is, and you try to
・You want to go dancing!
・Family is important to you
