My self-summary
I like to stop and smell the roses. I like to think that there are roses to stop for--that there is beauty still left in the world to be appreciated. I try to sustain an optimistic perspective or outlook on life despite how easy it is to be a cynic, though I tend be attracted to darker shades of gray.

It may take a minute to break through my wall of shy, but once that wall is down, it doesn't rebuild. I like being social, but I also like to choose my words wisely.

Prepare for me to geek out on some seriously nerdy stuff.

I am passionate, genuine, and friendly
What I’m doing with my life
After a six-year college career attending CSU East Bay while working at Starbucks as a Shift Supervisor, I earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Music and a California Single-Subject Teaching Credential. I used that credential as a ticket into one of my most thrilling projects--becoming an English teacher at Oakland High School. While my first year proved to be a true test, I have learned a great deal about teaching and perseverance. As with any new teacher, teaching monopolizes a great deal of time, but I'm a fan of working hard and playing harder.

As much as I loved my first year at OHigh, I will be taking on a new adventure at a middle school. New opportunities allow me to broaden my horizons and make me a better teacher. We'll see how it goes.
I’m really good at
making a fine beverage at Starbucks. And board games. Board games of many different types.
The first things people usually notice about me
Maybe you should ask them....I've been told that my smile, as well as my eyes, are on that list :)
