My self-summary
I'm a laid-back, geeky guy. While I enjoy math, science, reading, internet memes, and gaming of most sorts, I try to balance that out by also enjoying dancing, backpacking, kayaking, and karaoke. I'm more Buddhist-ish than capitalist: I think it's easier to find happiness by wanting what you have than by getting what you want. I tend to be shy and introverted when getting to know people, but once I relax (or have a few drinks in me), I become fairly outgoing and theatrical. I keep a very even keel emotionally, and appreciate others who have their shit together and don't require substantial amounts of emotional support.

A note about polyamory:
I'm in a pretty serious relationship, but we aren't going to be each other's sole life partners. So you should either be accepting of the fact that I have other romantic relationships in my life, or such a good match for me that I'd be willing to be monogamous with you. I am starting to look for someone to raise kids with, and I recognize that many people looking for the same tend towards monogamy, so I'm willing to compromise to some degree.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it. I have a pretty awesome software engineering job that treats me well, so I'm content career-wise.
I’m really good at
Puzzles, riding my bike with no handlebars, grammar, being sarcastic without people realizing it. I'm in a dance performance group, so I guess I'm pretty good at dancing. And my bosses keep telling me I'm really good at my job, so software engineering I suppose.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Breakfast at Tiffany's, by (respectively) Truman Capote, Blake Edwards, Edward Albee, Deep Blue Something, and a chef in or around Tiffany's.

Books: Sci-fi and Fantasy. Asimov, Bradbury, LeGuin, Stephenson, Gaiman... Also sometimes good non-fiction (pop. sci-ish).

Movies: I'm not a big movie-goer, but I can enjoy almost any movie with a plot. There's a special place in my heart for The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Shows: Mostly I like comedies. Coupling, Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, etc. But good dramas like The Wire and Game of Thrones are also quite enjoyable.

Music: Classic rock and showtunes are my favorite. I appreciate most anything dancey. My only music turn-offs are things that are violent, mopey, or overly repetitive.

Food: I'm pretty omnivorous. Favorites include Chinese, Thai, Steak, and Italian.
The six things I could never do without
As I said, I try to be happy with what I have, so I like to believe I could do without most things. Also I periodically go backpacking, which is a week in the wilderness with only what I can carry (and I've spent 3 days in the wilderness with only what could fit in half a coffee can), so I know I can do without a lot, at least for a while.

That said, I really appreciate privacy, familiar food, the internet, reference material, joyful movement, and people who understand me.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend a lot of time practicing explaining things to people. Game rules, mathematical theorems, fictional universes, whatever. Maybe that means I should go into teaching? Probably not.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Admitting something here makes it substantially less private than
it was before. This causes whatever was previously the
nearly-most-private thing to become the most private, instead of
the thing that was admitted here. Therefore, it is impossible to
admit the most private thing that I am willing to admit.

We shall call this Heisenberg's Secrecy Uncertainty Theorem.
You should message me if
In any message, please include some indication that you read my profile, and not just a generic "hey what's up." If you are incapable of referencing anything else in my profile, use the codeword 'hootenanny'.

You appreciate geekiness and won't look at me funny when I reference internet memes, but also appreciate the outdoors and some kind of physical activity. You want to go dancing, hiking, sing karaoke, or go to the theatre.
