My self-summary
How do you summarize a life...?

I'm pretty active: I love trail running, crossfit, triathlons - the participating as well as the de-briefing. There's nothing as rewarding as post run/event beers, is there?!

Values I think are important: curiosity, humility, kindness

Good conversation makes my world go round. Throw in a few laughs and I'm sold.
What I’m doing with my life
When I'm at my most thoughtful, I'd say: trying to make the world a better place by researching, writing and influencing public policy. Constantly challenging myself to improve.

Or I could just give you a list of stuff I like to do: cooking, having interesting conversations with smart and fun people, and drinking good wine make me happy.

I've got a few trips (Fiji, NZ, Hong Kong) lined up that I'm looking forward to.

Other things that give me joy include: mushrooms cooked in lots of butter, early morning trail runs, riding my bike on a fresh cool and sunny Spring morning and seeing politicians give clear answers to important questions. I'm still waiting on that last one.
I’m really good at
Starting new books.
Finding new athletic adventures and challenges.
Knowing a bit about a lot of things.
From all accounts, baking Monte Carlos.

Making lists.
The first things people usually notice about me
I hope it's that I’m one of those nice, normal girls who can have an intelligent conversation about the world. Including, but not limited to: sport, politics, economics, stoic philosophy and poached vs fried
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I like to think I read a lot of non fiction but judging by the stack of half read books next to my bed that is a dubious claim...Ones I've made it all the way through include James Button, Don Watson, Mark Manson's 'Subtle art of not giving a f*#k' is gold and I'm enjoying Ryan Holiday as well. All about the stoics 😊 Some fiction (Ian McEwan, John Fowles, Jane Austen).

Movies & shows: I'm rubbish at watching scary movies. Some tv: Adam Hills, Borgen, The West Wing, 30 Rock, House of Cards. Although Season 4 went off the rails a bit, didn't it?

Music: Spotify is possibly the greatest invention ever - current favourites include Flume, Wafia, Broods, Run the Jewels, Vera Blue. Old favourites include PJ Harvey, Paul Simon, Dire Straits. Aussie hip hop and Triple J to mix it up. Trashy pop is a guilty secret - only when I'm (road) running though ;-)

Am addicted to Tim Ferriss podcasts and Brian Mackenzie is a freaking legend.

Food: I like to cook, particularly euro style and am also very grateful for Melbourne's awesome Asian/ Mex/ Euro/ whatever else is cool style and variety. I usually eat pretty well (real food, sometimes lchf) cause I feel better for it, but also like to indulge occasionally. Or more than occasionally. Just not all the time :-)
Six things I could never do without
Good chocolate, wine, cheese, coffee... probably not all at once
Friends and family - what life is all about
A dining table big enough to read the newspaper on. Not happy about change to tabloid style there The Age, I went out and got a big table especially
Passport - nothing more exciting than gearing up for an overseas trip
Sunshine and a perfect blue sky. It just makes me feel good, especially in winter
Exercise and being active - keeps me sane and I love the sense of achievement I get from lifting heavy stuff, moving fast and seeing amazing places.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- How much better the public transport system would be if I was in charge (and found a magic money tree).
- What should I plant in the pots on my balcony (apart from weeds).
- Why Malcolm Turnbull has disappointed so many people.
- If Dangerwood is going to win the Cats the flag (maybe in 2017).
- How many more refugees we should take.
- Whether my online profile is the right mix of funny and smart and really reflects my unique and amazing personality.
- If anyone really takes these things seriously.
- Whether chocolate almonds are better than chocolate covered raspberries (yes, but raspberries are also awesome).

I'm INTP so I spend a lot of time thinking...this list could be a long one.
On a typical Friday night I am
Could be anything: elebrating the end of another week; watching the footy with beers; planning a trail run somewhere new. We are pretty lucky in Melbourne to have some amazing parks and trails close to the city and I've made it my business to get out there and appreciate them!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I make a cake or biscuits just so I can lick the bowl...
You should message me if
If you're curious about the world and want to get out there and explore it
If you're witty, smart, humble and an all round nice guy
If you're prepared to see the funny side, especially about yourself
If you think I sound kind of awesome ;-)
If you have something more to say than 'hi'
