My self-summary
I am a graduate student studying paleontology at the University of South Florida, and I like stuff like beer, Magic cards (not the cool kind), computer games, philosophy, and science. I'm a leftist of sorts, politically speaking. I love animals, and I dislike onions. If you want to know anything else, read on..

I am a philosopher, a scientist, and neither.
What I’m doing with my life
Studying paleobiology for my Master's degree. Evolutionary trends over time and such. Blah blah blah.

As for right now, I'd like to end up getting a Doctorate. and staying in academia doing research in the extraordinarily diverse field known as geology. Maybe teach some people how to do science. Okay, I really just want to have the title of doctor.

I am also greatly interested in traveling, which is a convenient bonus of being a geologist; our lab is inevitably the world around us. It really takes the subject from good to great.
I’m really good at
Rational debate and homoerotic humor. I like to think that I am cool-headed, and am able to analyze situations objectively. Well, that's just plain wrong, but I like to try. I tend to be good at analytic communication, not so much on the emotional side.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a sense of humor which has been twisted by the internets, with help from websites such as 4chan. I sometimes use big words unnecessarily, although I like to think I do this so that I can better articulate my position. Also, I am tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like Philosophy and Political Theory. Books such as Candide by Voltaire, Political Liberalism by John Rawls, Age of Reason by Thomas Paine, and The Republic by Plato. The list is really long, and includes tons of shit. Lately, due to changes in academic direction, I have been reading lots of science journals.

In no particular order: Thank You for Smoking, The Life Aquatic, V for Vendetta, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Eyes Wide Shut, The Graduate, Inglourious Basterds, Pulp Fiction, City of God, Into the Wild, American Psycho, Cinema Paradiso, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Talented Mr. Ripley, In Bruges, Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, Good Will Hunting, Magnolia, Mr. Brooks, The Big Lebowski, The Usual Suspects, Whatever Works, Match Point, Human Nature, Wristcutters: A Love Story, etc etc etc

Again, no particular order: Propagandhi, Bomb the Music Industry!, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Dillinger Four, Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip, The Rebel Spell, The Weakerthans, Phil Ochs, Gogol Bordello, A Wilhelm Scream, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Wolf Parade, Okkervil River, Connor Oberst (and assorted acts), etc etc etc

Food: Everything. Not picky. Give it to me.
The six things I could never do without
So, I would love to live on an island with nothing but the broad horizon and glaring sun and high speed internet and cellular access and running water and restaurants and live shows and a few close friends.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Philosophical quandaries and snails. Music and cinema. Art and culture. The human condition and what the fuck that means. I wonder if people are justified to get offended by profanities. I find myself in a struggle between battling ignorance and accepting tolerance. If I'm right, why should I deal with other people being wrong? Am I wrong? Are they wrong? Does any of this matter? Does it make sense to even make claims about rightness? What is rightness? Is there a god? Is there a teapot? I don't know the answers to so many questions. Does that mean I should give up or give in? Does it matter? After all, all of us are just tiny specs on a spectrum inconceivably long, aren't we? We are? Are we? I don't know that one either. Fuck.

There is one thing I know. If someone claims to have all the answers, they're lying. Nobody has all the answers.
On a typical Friday night I am
Not doing anything in particular. Possibly nerding it up and playing Magic. Doing science. Getting drunk. It varies quite a bit. It is also not uncommon for me to just sleep early on a Friday because I get next to no sleep during the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Like the rest of the world, I am a self-centered asshole. Also, like most of the world, I try to keep it to socially acceptable levels. It doesn't always work out that way. But, at my core, I'd like to think that I am an ethically good person ... whatever that really means ...
You should message me if
any of this makes sense, although you'll probably end up going off whether or not you find my profile pictures attractive, which is fine, too, I guess.
