My self-summary
I'm a bitter sarcastic bastard on the outside but a decent and reliable guy on the inside. Kind of like Clint Eastwood in "Gran Torino" but without the racism.

I recently became a refugee to the Seattle area after living in the barren wasteland of rural Iowa for twenty-something years. I'm a video game enthusiast and a bit of an introvert.

I find humor in the morbid and the absurd. I tend to be perceived as sarcastic and negative because I find it hilarious to observe how awful the world can be. Ever read Charles Bukowski? It's kind of like that.

Other interests include biology, astronomy (science in general, really), politics, philosophy, Star Wars, the atheism+ movement, and quality booze.

I come across as a pessimist sometimes, but my intent is to always be a realist. Empirical reality is important to me, wishful thinking is not.
What I’m doing with my life
Fuck all, for the time being.

I plan to get a bachelor's degree in biology after my contract's up with the damned military. Professionally, I plan to become a mortician; pretty good money if you've got the stomach for it.

I've also been snowboarding pretty much every weekend and am pretty bummed that the season is almost over.
I’m really good at
Remembering random trivia that I learned years ago.

Making fun of terrible movies.

Video games, waxing philosophical, blasphemy, spotting douchebags, ruining moments.

Making people laugh at inappropriate times, for inappropriate reasons.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a bit taller than average and I have a big nose. My eyes are overly emotive.

I often look angry when I'm not. This can be alternately inconvenient or humorous.

The six things I could never do without
The scientific method
The internet
Vidya games
Belgian ale
[Thing six]
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Science, evolution, and how every living thing on this planet is related. I think a lot about the sheer beauty of humanity's collective scientific knowledge and wonder why so many people willfully reject it.

All of the nice things out there and the myriad reasons I can't have them.
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't really know what's typical about a Friday night since I usually go out of my way to do something atypical.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I suck at small talk. I have an almost debilitating lack of interest in sports or whatever it is normal people care about.
