My self-summary
I recently moved here to teach at a local college. I love to learn and think about the world and feel lucky I can get paid to do it. I'm from China originally, but came to the US when I was five. Since then, I've lived all over the US, from upstate New York to Portland, Oregon. Nowadays, though, I'm looking to settle down.
What I’m doing with my life
Career wise, I'm trying to make it as an academic. My biggest hobbies are playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, and games of various sorts. I like to stay active and almost always prefer doing something to being copped up in my apartment.
I’m really good at
I have a knack for explaining things; most of my students enjoy my classes. I'm good at synthesizing ideas from different areas and tend to see connections that others miss.
The first things people usually notice about me
I listen to them when they talk.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: The Giver, Guns Germs and Steel, anything by Issac Asimov
Movie: Memento, Men in Black, Fight Club.
TV: better off ted, True detective, futurerama, attack on titan, Rick and Morty, The crown, stranger things
Music: Gorillaz, Neutral Milk Hotel, Rebelution, Ben Folds Five, Pink Floyd, Guster
Food: Anything as long as it's quality food. I cook about 50% of the time. This involved a rough start but I'm getting better at it, mostly on account of quality instruction from my mom, who cooks excellent Chinese food.
The six things I could never do without
1. My lungs
2. My brain-stem
3. My kidneys
4. My circulatory system
5. My intestines
6. My liver
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How we shape society, and how it shapes us in return.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends.
