My self-summary
I'm a recent arrival. Moved here to teach at a small liberal arts college; it's my dream job! I enjoy intellectual conversations and love to learn and think about the world.

When I'm with people, I tend to prefer interacting one-on-one, rather than in a big group. I wouldn't call myself extroverted, but it's pretty easy for me to be social. I like talking to people and trying to understand why they are the way they are.
What I’m doing with my life
In warm months, I like to get outside and play ultimate frisbee or go hiking. Around two years ago I started playing the guitar, and that has been a surprisingly wonderful experience.

I tend to always be doing something. I usually prefer activities such as games or going out to watching tv shows or movies.
I’m really good at
Teaching. I've always liked teaching, and I've found that people have an easy time understanding my explanations. I'm analytical and tend to think strategically, so my life is usually in order. But I'm a bit more open minded than your stereotypical planner.
The first things people usually notice about me
I listen to them when they talk.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Book: The Giver, Guns Germs and Steel, anything by Issac Asimov
Movie: Memento, Men in Black, Up, Fight Club; my favorite love movie is Moonrise Kingdom, a movie which somehow has Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, and Edward Norton in a film with no car chases.
TV: True detective, futurerama, attack on titan, Rick and Morty
Music: Gorillaz, Linkin Park, Neutral Milk Hotel, Rebelution, Ben Folds Five, Pink Floyd, Guster
Food: Chinese, Ethiopian, Indian, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese... I think 'foreign' cuisine is generally better than American food, but I don't hate on American food either. Wings are delicious, as is a good burger. We don't really do enough with vegetables, though.
The six things I could never do without
1. My lungs
2. My brain-stem
3. My kidneys
4. My circulatory system
5. My intestines
6. My liver
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I study economics. When I tell people this, people usually tell me to give them a stock tip. Ah, if only they knew the difference between economics and finance! I'm interested in understanding society - how it shapes us, and how we shape it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
You should message me if
> You like the stuff I like.
> I'm open to the fact that pretty much anything, including stuff that I've never even heard of - never even conceived of - could be really cool. Surprise me :D
