I work hard but do my best to just kick it, its important for me to be working on projects I feel passionately about, but I also understand that ultimately nothing actually matters and I want to know that I didn't waste my youth buried in my work.
I'm a drummer and musician, I've played jazz most of my life but I'm taking a break to focus my energy elsewhere. I'm a producer/director for a hiphop media company, doing mostly music videos and documentaries. Before that I was in journalism and news.
This is some of my work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm38BpDahNs
On the side I write for a couple of music websites, mostly about jazz, hiphop, and R&B.
I spend a lot of time at the dog park with my pup Tycho, who's easily the greatest source of positivity in my life. We just like to be outside.
Stanley Kubrick, Sam Mendes, Mike Nichols, Quentin Tarantino, Mel Brooks all inspire me.
Currently The Simpsons, Rick and Morty, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Futurama, Bob's Burgers, Archer, Veep, Silicon Valley all simultaneously stimulate and turn off my brain.
R&B, Funk, jazz, ambient sounds, metal, rhymes, tight rhythm sections, and any music that's appropriate for intergalactic travel.
Anything that makes my ears smile, like Khruangbin - White Gloves.
I think about the issues we as a society must face every day just as much as I think about how desperately I'd like to go home and watch cartoons.
