My self-summary
Outgoing and thoughtful. I love getting to know new people by experiencing the things they get excited about. Connection is the straw that stirs my drink.

It's when I get comfortable with people that my best traits emerge.

Also my Spanish/castellano is not okay. It is damn good. You would be surprised...
What I’m doing with my life
I just spent five months getting to know Seattle by living in four different neighborhoods while I waited to move into a new place. It heightened my appreciation for this city a lot, and reignited the sense of adventure I felt when I first moved here. I work a bunch, but willingly. Settling into less of an itinerant mode is what I am enjoying the most - making dinners, having friends over. Still making time for music. I work in communication in health care and love my job.
I’m really good at
reading, writing, listening to music, learning, laughing, and making others laugh
The first things people usually notice about me
At my best I am fun and funny, in a dry, somewhat sarcastic Bostonian way. I am direct, but try to be respectful and playful about it. I am open and fairly honest. People who don't understand jabberwocky as a conversation technique rarely get me. The people who do get me typically say I am wicked smart. And curious about other people.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
David Foster Wallace, Lydia Davis, Cormac McCarthy, graphic novels like Y: The Last Man and stuff by Lynd Ward, Colson Whitehead, Angela Carter, John Barth, Zadie Smith, Haruki Murakami and Italo Calvino. Love pretty much anything by Terry Gilliam and Wes Anderson, as well as stuff like Interstellar and Damsels in Distress. Terrence Malick. There's Louie, Portlandia, Catastrophe and Master of None. My favorite tv anything, ever is The Wire. I also love anime.

My taste in music is a whole week in conversation.

Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Prince, BigBoi/Outkast, ATCQ, Nick Drake, Blonde Redhead, Gang Gang Dance, Robyn, Alpha, Burial, old Stax/Volt southern soul, John Coltrane, Zola Jesus, Grimes, School of Seven Bells (SVIIB), The Books, Little Dragon, The Knife, Julia Holter, Maria Minerva, Elvis Costello, Peter Gabriel, The Flaming Lips, Wu-Tang Clan, Talk Talk, Elliott Smith, Massive Attack, Maximum Balloon, Glass Candy, Chromatics, David Bowie, The Pretenders, Dum Dum Girls, M83, The Kills, MF DOOM, Kraftwerk, Actress, Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar, Brian Eno, De La Soul, Monolake, MBV, Ann Peebles, Lamb, King Tubby, Wild Nothing, Wiley, Shuggie Otis, Sly & the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers, J Dilla, Interpol, Grouper, El P, Band of Horses, Crystal Castles, Metric, Nico, Cat Power, Big K.R.I.T., Lower Dens, Nite Jewel, Twin Shadow, Purity Ring, Fresh Espresso, Eccentric Soul comps, the Beatles and Rolling Stones equally, this is getting ridiculous...

One of my favorite things to do in Seattle is the Decibel Festival. Another is SIFF. Readings at Elliott Bay are fun. SAM and other Seattle museums.

I am ridiculously happy with my paella pan. My favorite Seattle restaurants are Ocho and Westward, and I will eat sushi nearly any time. This is the best food city I have ever lived in!
The six things I could never do without
My stereo/music collection
Recipes
Live music
Traveling
Boston sports
Walking shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what new thing I might try and make for dinner this week, how to get out to see more music/art/film/readings/etc., which part of my music collection I've been neglecting
On a typical Friday night I am
happy houring with friends, hanging in and watching something, seeing live music, reading, at the movies, making dinner
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I rarely get uncomfortable when asked a question. But like most reasonable people it depends on the level of trust I've developed with the person.
You should message me if
... you think I might be interesting enough to meet in person. If you have something fun you want to do together, or want me to suggest something, or if you just want to get coffee, I am likely to respond to people who can act on their curiosity enough to try to get to know someone IRL.
