My self-summary
I work with children, providing play opportunities, etc. and doing this my entire adult life has turned me into a reasonably minded, mild-mannered kinda guy. I have some strong opinions, although I try not to push them and am very logical and thoughtful. I am shyer and less confident than people think and in reality I suppose I am an introvert who acts like a extrovert to cover it up.
What I’m doing with my life
I love my job, however small and piecemeal it is, but would also love to either write fiction or work in independent video game production. More recently I have started amateur podcasting and feel I have found my media in the immediacy of it. In an attempt to make this better I go to an improve class, which I love, but worry I don't excel at.
I’m really good at
My job. I am also very good at assessing and responding to a situation with a level head. I'm funny and clever and I think this is what people remember about me. I am a good cook and am more likely to have friends round for dinner than go to theirs.
The first things people usually notice about me
In a recent poll of the under sevens, the two most notable things about me were that I am beautiful and that I am fat. This is because children under seven don't find the two mutually exclusive and because they call it as they see it.
For adults (who are a lot less likely to find me beautiful) it is probably that I am smiling at them. Although I am shyer with adults it gives me a not insignificant amount of pleasure to smile at people and see them smile back.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favourite books include East of Eden, The Master and Margerita, Mr Norrell and Jonathan Strange, One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Walking Dead series, the Scott Pilgrim series and so many others. I love children's fiction including Harry Potter and anything by Philip Pullman and am particularly interested in other-world children's fiction and the theory behind it. Examples of these include the Oz books, Alice and Wonderlands, The World of O books (by Maurice Gee) and Salman Rushdie.

I love films including almost any well made horror films (and some crap ones). Otherwise my tastes are very broad and I am equally at home with Die Hard, Aliens, Little Miss Sunshine, It's a Wonderful Life, Dancer in the Dark and many more.

I don't watch much TV on TV, but manage to catch the usual suspects: Dr Who, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica, etc.

My musical tastes are very broad but I particularly enjoy Nina Simone, The Pixies, Lana Del Rey, Arcade Fire, Cindy Lauper, Nick Cave, and Bob Dylan. However most of what I rate are individual songs by artists and can easily believe that an artist can write a song that strikes a particular chord with someone that can't easily be replicated or repeated. Cases in point are how I much The Weakness in Me by Joan Armatrading or Train in Vain by the Clash over their other works.

Foodwise my favourites range from roast chicken and lasagne to chicken katsu curry and Boursin-and-German-salami sandwiches. Most of my cooking is Asian-inspired. So far no-one has managed to get me to enjoy fish.
Six things I could never do without
The internet (specifically YouTube), my computer, my bed, working with children, enjoyable food, and oxygen (the last one is a real deal breaker, I'm afraid).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what life would be like if I had made different better informed choices. I also spend a lot of time formulating or working on ideas for videos games and writing that I should really spend more time acting on.

I'm beginning to think that I have answered too many of these questions... they're addictive.
On a typical Friday night I am
likely to reward my week with a bottle of wine, a takeaway and a movie (in that order of priority).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I often need a bit more help or support than I am comfortable asking for.

I have been a member of this site for a couple of years without finding someone I wanted to date. I often don't message someone, not because I don't like them, but because I worry they won't like me.
You should message me if
you don't mind a shy guy who may be reticent in coming forward
