My self-summary
Renaissance man seeks Resident woman.
I have a hard time taking anything too seriously, but I am serious about improving myself. Most recently, I'm learning to be a better ESL teacher. Before that, I built a Theremin. Before that, I was working on my pull throws for Ultimate Frisbee (everyone should play this).
Not really interested in watching other people play sports, but I'm big into games (not relationship mindgames, mind you)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently working as an Engineer in a laboratory. Graduated with a degree in Physics, Philosophy, and Mathematics. Tried out high school teaching, and I guess I don't like teenagers as much as I thought I would. Looking to get into grad school soon.
I’m really good at
Telling stories. People tell me I have a talent for it. I'm good at seeing the forest, so I don't always see the trees. I tried kissing a mirror, and it was amazing for both of us, so I'm probably good at kissing.
The first things people usually notice about me
Bridge piercing. Every time it's not hidden behind my glasses. "Did that hurt?" If it's hiding, I have no clue. People seem to like the little curl I have in my hair.
Just took a long look in the mirror, and the first thing I noticed was my eyes, they are going from blue to gray. Maybe I should eat more carrots :I
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Nietzsche's body of work (I still have to check the spelling of his name every time though, sheesh dude get an easier name to spell, for real)
Sum: 40 tales from the afterlife
God, a Biography
A Brief History of Nearly Everything
The Giver
Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television

2001: A Space Odyssey
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Waking Life
Zardoz (Mr. Connery in red underwear, yes please)
Anything low budget

I watched enough TV for 5 kids during my childhood, so I don't really watch it. When I do, I'm watching:
30 Rock
Wife Swap (Don't hate, the show is fascinating)
I'm a sucker for cartoons

I have a pretty high tolerance for what other people call bad music. I've been listening to a lot of ambient music recently, but here's some stuff I like to listen to otherwise:
Red Stars Theory
Fever Ray
Cake (My all time favorite)
The Pavement
Lots of stuff... I honestly don't care if someone listens exclusively to Miley Cyrus.

Something I haven't tried yet. I'm Pescatarian (Poor man's vegetarian, I eat fish also) for many reasons, but I don't expect it of other people, and I won't refuse a burger someone's made for me.
The six things I could never do without
Diversity in the workplace
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Empathy is the guiding principle in my life. It has made me some wonderful friends.
On a typical Friday night I am
Until recently I was usually studying, reading or goofing around on the internet. I don't like to stagnate, so now that I've graduated, I usually have a project I'm working on to fill the time. I've built a few instruments, and it seems like a fun hobby. I'm always down for a board game, and bought a few really nerdy ones recently.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The sign outside my apartment complex says "Live where the best live." I'm afraid I may never live up to the standard set by that sign.
You should message me if
You aren't one of my students.
You are looking to enhance your already awesome life.
Please be quick witted, and at least a tiny bit nerdy.
