My self-summary
I moved here from Iowa quite a few years ago and feel like I've blended the East Coast and the Midwest rather nicely. I work at biotech company in Cambridge. Sometimes I think that I spend too much time on work but I've recruited some of my close friends to work there and really like/believe in what I'm doing so that most days it really doesn't feel like work. That's not to suggest that I can't put my work away and enjoy myself, far from it.
I can be a quiet person at times and I prefer smaller intimate settings, like a dinner party, to a loud club…unless I’m going to see a concert. I value the idea of having a personal set of standards or code and standing by them, even when doing so might be inconvenient. I’m very loyal, especially to friends and family. I consider myself to be emotionally steady and think that very little gets me upset or angry.
What I’m doing with my life
I try to appreciate the smaller things in life like enjoying: a good book, a hot cup of coffee first thing in the morning, day to day successes at work, learning something new, a good conversation with a friend, or an afternoon wondering around the city people watching.
I’m really good at
Being patience.
Falling asleep on airplanes.
Waking up early on weekdays to go to the gym before work so I don't have to worry about missing a workout if some thing a comes up after work.
Making sure I don't have plans on Sundays so I can wake up late and enjoy a cup of coffee while reading on my patio.
The first things people usually notice about me
Either my perfectly shaped and aerodynamically sound head or my big brown eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I still enjoy reading a physical book, I like turning actual paper pages, going to a bookstore , finding the book I wanted or picking out one I didn't even know existed but after reading the synopsis had to have.
I've bought and given away countless copies of Franny and Zoey because every time a friend says they haven't read it I give them my copy.
My favorite author is W. Somerset Maughn. I've read all of his novels that are easy to get a hold of, some of the ones that aren't, and now I'm slowly reading his short stories. Graham Greene, Chuck Palahniuk, Hunter S. Thompson, Irvine Welsh, Nick Hornsby, Dave Eggers, and Chuck Klosterman are authors I've enjoyed for years and I'll buy anything with their names on it even if I don't end up reading it (Palaniuk I'm looking at you, serious drop off in quality since your first 5 or 6 novels).

I don't really go to the movies so much any more but I'll watch any Wes Anderson movie over and over and over again. Other than that I'll go see a movie when friends want to go but most of time I can wait to see it on my tv at home.

The only tv shows I'm into are all on HBO Sunday nights; GoT, Silicon Valley, Veep, and Last Week with John Oliver. I'm going to have to go back to doing something other than watching tv Sunday nights when most of those shows seasons finish.

I listen to all kinds of music, classical, jazz, blues, rock, etc.
But the biggest influence in my life musically would probably have to be Led Zepplin III. It has some version of just about every type of 'pop' music I fell in love with after it. Its got straight up rock songs, quiet acoustic songs, fast and rockin' acoustic songs, some very slow blues songs, some pumped up delta blues rock songs, , rock with a country twang songs, it even has songs with a hard rock banjo (I didn't even that was possible back then and I've only managed to find a few who have pulled it off well since).

I've recently taken it upon myself to find the best carrot cake in the area. This consist of whenever I'm out and about, taking mental note of any place that might have a candidate and then eventually make my way back there and trying it. The best part of this task is that it is very iterative, in that once I think I found a challenger for the best carrot cake, I have to go back and try the previous top candidate. You know, just to be sure which ones better. Once I've found the best carrot cake, I think finding the best breakfast sandwich will be next.
Outside of my carrot cake quest, I like a wide range of food and will try just about anything. But I'm a sucker for mexican food, even bad mexican food.
The six things I could never do without
In no particular order and excluding things like family and oxygen;

Coffee, black (it's not even for the caffeine I just like the taste of good coffee)

A Car (I hardly ever use mine but when I want to go somewhere/anywhere I can and do)

The Gym (I injured my leg last year and couldn't work out for weeks, it really threw me off)

Spotify (the vast majority of all the music I've ever wanted to listen to available at a moments notice)

A nice pair of blue jeans (most of my waking hours are in them)

Iowa football (it allows me to keep in touch with people I would've probably lost touch with)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the Universe, Everything
(I like a bunch of english authors can you tell)
On a typical Friday night I am
Who really has a typical Friday.
Sometimes I have plans, other times I don't but something eventually come ups (these nights of not having any plans have been some of my favorite friday nights), and then there are times I tell people I have plans only to spend the night watching netflix. What I am really trying to say is that I am up for most things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I enjoyed watching the Gilmore Girls when it was on, and will watch the new season on netflix when comes out.
