My self-summary
With my passport, will, and other important papers is an obituary. Laurie Baker was a Quaker and an architect who, influenced by Gandhi, moved to India in the 1940's. Working for lower class clients, he took native materials and native patterns and created buildings with space and light and natural cooling. From what was there, he created things of beauty and usefulness.

I won't match Laurie Baker, but I do have that goal of beauty and usefulness. My brain is good at simplifying complex systems, which I've done in computers, mathematics and economics.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm getting a Masters in Economics this summer from UT-Austin. I've already got a job offer, if that matters to you.

Outside of work, I sail, fight gerrymandering, swing dance, and build houses with Habitat.
I’m really good at
Simplifying ideas down to fundamental pieces. Finding the right metaphor to explain a concept.
The first things people usually notice about me
The cloud of equations circling my head.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Princess Bride is a touchstone for my friends. I love a lot of short-lived TV shows (Firefly, Wonderfalls, The Middleman) and absurd comedy (L.A. Story, The Importance of Being Earnest).
Six things I could never do without
Sunlight in the morning to wake up.
My close friends.
My family.

Paper and a good pen. (I'm trying to decide if my iPad Mini can replace those...)

Will online-dating cause natural selection for people who can write a good self-summary?
On a typical Friday night I am
Packing my bag for sailing on Saturday.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once worked at OkCupid.
