My self-summary
New Yorker back in the New York area.

Living abroad gave me the opportunity to hike, bike and scuba dive. Weather dependent, I'm dragon boat paddling on a competitive team.

I'm a nerd with a geek fetish who loves dogs and ice hockey (let's go Rangers!).

I'm not sure where to put this in my profile, but I believe kindness is one of the most attractive qualities in a person. Choose and be kind.

Eat cake, too.
What I’m doing with my life
I worked crazy hard to get a degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. It was worth the sweat and tears (real tears...150 page thesis written in Chinese makes you cry). I'm teaching Mandarin to cheeky middle schoolers.

I've always had the 'arty and crafty' bug. Two recent projects: custom designed sheep piñata destroyed in mere seconds and stripping/sanding/staining wood furniture for my new place.

I love to cook. I love to cook for friends. I love cooking Chinese, Thai, Turkish and Indian cuisines for friends.

Some random things I have on my 'bucket list': be able to do a full cartwheel, go fly fishing, learn to code, watch The House of Commons live, and try sky diving...not necessarily in that order :)
I’m really good at
I love having friends over for dinner and I'll cook just about anything for them.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my half Asian Jew-fro, especially in the summer humidity. My smile, I'm told I smile a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Blazing Saddles is my all time favorite film. Getting into 'Club de Cuervos' on Netflix.

Always on the lookout for new Thai, Mexican and Indian recipes. Got a favorite?

I have pretty eclectic taste in music: I listen to Alt Latino songs, movie soundtracks, blues, Afrobeat...and always on the lookout for something new.

Great read of late, 'What is not yours is not yours' by Helen Oyeyemi.

For me, not much tops the 2,000 Year Old Man recordings....points to those who know what they are!
Six things I could never do without
Why does this have to be 'six things'? I love my life and my 'things'...I'm not going to deny them to myself.

That being said, I can't live without garlic, cumin and olive oil in my kitchen.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My extra toe. Ha, just kidding…
On a typical Friday night I am
I have no typical Friday night, but it's always nicer with a glass of wine and the company of good friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I wouldn’t show in public, so why would I put it here? Ask me in person and maybe I’ll share…
You should message me if
you can make me laugh (there are few things more attractive than a wicked sense of humor)

you dance at weddings

don't take yourself too seriously, but know when you need to.

you give up your seat on a train/bus for the elderly, disabled and pregnant.
