I'm a nerd. No other way to say it. Don't let that stop you from reading and/or skimming further though, chances are you've never met one like me before.
I play video (and sometimes board) games, I hobby around with computers (I built mine), and I can keep up with most people in a scientific or philosophical conversation. I love movies and drawing (I've been known to combine the two), ceramic work and wood carving (not as compatible as movies and drawing...). It's been a while since I've done any real art, its been a lot of sketches and doodles, but i also have some Plasticine that i tool around with.
I love trying new things and retrying things I hated years ago.
I am a bit of a home-body, but when I do go out, it's to a show or event I want to go, and I expect and enjoy when my friends invite themselves along. I'm the guy at the club that never dances, only has one drink, and has a great time. I'm a pretty low maintenance guy.
I often score INTJ on Myers-Briggs adaptations.
If there is one thing this profile has taught me so far, I have a hard time remembering to capitalize my 'I's...
I'm a gamer, looking for my player 2.
Getting paid to fake it, while working undercover for The Man (I'm a manager for Regal Entertainment).
And now, I'm even older.
A good idea of what I'm looking for romantically, listen to Somebody by Depeche Mode.
http://buttersafe.com/2013/02/14/falling speaks volumes to me.
And now, I'm older still.
-I can geek-out about damn near anything. I've come to be described as an omni-nerd.
-I'm great at telling bad jokes. Puns are cool...
-keeping my art to myself.
-I can sing "It's the end of the world as we know it" by R.E.M., no joke.
- not being photogenic.
- keeping my Costco trips under 45 minutes.
-I can make typos and butcher the English language like no ones business!
-I'm a wizard with a pan or skillet.
-I might be a wizard in real life (Whats that behind your ear?!)
-I have a very good sense of direction. That is to say, I will get lost but I always find my way again and never panic.
-I take things in great strides. I'm very slow to anger (unless you talk to me about George Lucas), and I am a very accepting person.
-Test results show that I'm good at thinking with portals.
-I'm pretty good at messing up first impressions.
-I am told that I give off a feeling of acceptance and safety. I don't disagree. (so humble!)
Lord of the Rings is my favorite book set. the books in my (currently) small shelf are: Complete works of Shakespeare, 7 Novels by H.G. Wells, Different Dances by Shel Silverstein, Collection of H.P. Lovecraft, Cyclopedia Anatomicae, the Complete Grimms fairy tales, a copy of Grays Anatomy, and of course, Lord of the Rings. I also have a few long boxes of comics and paperbacks stored away.
Movies is a very loaded question, though I guess examples prove best: Brazil, Indiana Jones 3, Star Wars (4.5.6), Princess Bride, The Hobbit, LotR, Bond movies, The Thing, Alien, The Royal Tennenbaums, Batman & Batman Returns, Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, Gorky Park, Mindwalk, Jurassic Park, Terminator, Time Bandits, The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, The Blues Brothers, etc, etc, etc... This is a big question for me, and really requires a case by case discussion. Ask me about movies, I'll tell you if I like it. (chances are I've seen it)
Despite being a bit of a home-body, I generally don't watch TV. Dr. Who is my longest running series, I've watched him since childhood. I will torrent my childhood cartoons (X-men, the Tick, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pirates of Dark Water, etc...) and other 80-90s shows that I get a stitch to watch (Max Headroom, Red Dwarf, Star Trek: TNG, etc.. ). Other than that, whatever Netflix has streaming will keep me entertained. I finally started watching Arrested Development.
I've also been partial to select anime in my day. Bebop is by far my favorite. FMA, Samurai X, and (to my slight embarrassment) the first season of Tenchi were some that I would watch some years ago.
Video Games: I play a few casual/free MMOs (LotRO, GW2...), Thief 1-3, Half-life 1-2.2, Portal 1+2, Diablo 2, Fallout 1 and 2, Sonic 1-4 + spinoffs, Metroid 1-5, Wii sports resort, Quake, Star Control 2, Etc, etc, etc...
I also tend to enjoy most RPGs i get my hands on. Baldur's Gate series, Neverwinter Nights, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 1, 3, 7, and 9. Few others, but I'll update all that some other time, or just ask me! I love discussing games and strategies!
Food? yes, please. I'll try anything once and I generally gravitate towards noodles and Chinese food.
Music yes... well, They Might Be Giants is my favorite band, so that should say something. but i take a healthy mix from so many genres.... but lists seem to work well. KMFDM, NIN, Nirvana, Cranberries, Oingo Boingo, Duran Duran, Stone Temple Pilots, Garbage, VNV nation, Tom Waits, The Cure, Daft Punk, Depeche Mode, the Pixies, Queen, B.B. King, Radiohead, Tool, Etc, Etc, Etc... I've also been prone to the guilty pleasure of select video game remixes.
I am on a lifelong quest to find out who put the 'bomp' in the "bomp bah bomp bah bomp."
All the things I'd do if I wasn't shy....
Seeing a few of the messages and conversations my friends get on this site, I'd like to apologize on behalf of the human race.
How to effectively build a city on nothing but rock and roll.
Theres a few coffee shops or movie theaters I like to frequent, or I enjoy the non-smoking nights at the Mercury.
I just got a new cat, so my nights off I've been working on making her happy.
About three times a week, I have been known to do the Ferris Bueler shampoo mohawk...
Something I should point out, I really have an aversion to smoking and drug use. Sorry, but I just don't like it.
You believe relationship building is a two-way street. I don't like feeling as though I am doing all the work to get to know you. Self-confidence is a plus.
If you can sit me down, shut me up and teach me 10 things I don't know.
You feel that a nice night in can include a full pot of coffee, Chinese take-out, and Mario Kart.
You've left the night-lite on inside the birdhouse in your soul.
If you can believe, despite the long winded essay that is my profile, that I'm a pretty low maintenance guy.
