My self-summary
I like sparkly things and I'm a total cheapskate. My curse is that I can do almost any impression very well once and then can never replicate it. I'm like a cat - I'm likely to come off a bit aloof at first but I have sudden bursts of cuddly affection, and I like to knead furniture with my claws.

NB: I'm happily partnered with squarepeg85 so I'm not in for anything too serious.
What I’m doing with my life
Working in Communications at a university and saving money for a big trip in the spring. In my spare time I'm dating everyone of marriageable age in Stardew Valley, hanging out with my rad baby nephew, and spending too much time on Twitter.
I’m really good at
I'm pretty good at singing and writing music; I have an advanced degree in songwriting, in fact, although these days I mostly just improvise songs about my butt and close every couplet with "bloo bloo bloo" when I can't think of a rhyme. I'm also a fair writer and copy-editor, if you're into that sort of thing. I make decent dad jokes.
The first things people usually notice about me
Blue eyes and dark brown hair (when I bother/remember to dye it). I'm told it's a pretty striking combination.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favourite book is an ever-changing roster of whatever I've enjoyed recently. Right now it's probably the Lilith's Brood trilogy, The Left Hand of Darkness, Les Misérables, Pride & Prejudice, the comic series Saga and The Thing Around Your Neck. A short list of movies that have made me ugly-cry: Moonlight, Lars and the Real Girl, Sixth Sense, Pokémon: The First Movie. I'd be sublimely happy if I could eat Morrocan, Ethiopian, Thai or Italian food every single day.

I listen to a lot of folk, R&B/soul and pop, but I get frequent hip hop, country and opera cravings. If I could have three musicians on a desert island, they would probably be Janelle Monae, Elliott Smith and Otis Redding. I will never get tired of the REM song "Shiny Happy People."
The six things I could never do without
My family, my pals, a way of making music, trees and mountains, eggs, good conversation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ambition, activism, video games, the future, songwriting methodology and practice, intersectional feminism, afrofuturism. Also I fret about money a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Drinking tea or cider, playing games (board, card, video), or hitting the gym.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I misspelled a word on a Grade 2 spelling test, but the teacher misread my messy handwriting and gave me a point for the word. She even held up my test as an example for the rest of the class. To this day I haven't corrected her.
You should message me if
If you are more concerned with being kind than with being smart or cool. (It's ok if you're all three through)
