My self-summary
Ok, so this is the question I hate the most. Let's see, how do I grab your attention enough to make you curious about what's below, but not share too much so that you've got reason to keep going? I guess this is why it's so hard to make a decent movie trailer. This is also why I'm not in advertising. So let me be straight, because I'm not good at bullshitting. I'm here to meet someone (or ones) new. Presumably so are you. So why not spend a couple minutes, read on and maybe something will catch your eye. A quick tip though: the really interesting stuff is at the end; this isn't a novel, it's ok to skip to the whodunit first. ;-)
What I’m doing with my life
Just getting by day to day best I can. Well, night to night really; I work the midnight shift five nights a week, with Friday and Saturday nights off. I still manage a social life as I generally try to sleep 9-5ish; my schedule usually works out just like any other office drone, except reversed. In my downtime I'm doing the usual geek things. Movies, games, internet, getting together with friends, etc. I've recently cut cable out of the equation, so that's still taking some getting used to.
I’m really good at
Filling out dating profiles. And sarcasm.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd imagine it's probably the hair. It's pretty darn red, and currently the longest it's ever been (or close to it, if I've just had a trim). Generally speaking I'm not one to be preoccupied with my looks, but I am pretty darn proud of my hair.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't read nearly as often as I used to, but my favorite authors are Douglas Adams, Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton. I suppose the fact they're all dead might have something to do with it, but really I just haven't found anything I've been able to really get into.

Movies on the other hand, I'm all over. Favorites include (but certainly not limited to) Interstellar, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Incredibles, Silence of the Lambs, The Dark Knight, Unforgiven, Ghostbusters and Grosse Pointe Blank. I also grew up watching Star Wars, Star Trek and the Bond films. I can really get into the craft as well, and enjoy things like the Inside the Actor's Studio and the Every Frame a Painting web series.

Much the same with music too. I generally like alt rock, and grew up on 90's staples like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Radiohead. That said, I love classic rock (Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Neil Young) and a lot of more modern stuff like Florence & the Machine, Muse, Of Monsters and Men, and Arcade Fire. All time favorite group is Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, though I rarely get to hear them on the radio. My playlists often include a few instrumental tracks here and there as well, usually pulled from favorite movie moments.

Food-wise, I'm generally a guy of simple tastes. I'm a recovering picky eater; my palette is still mostly meat-and-potatoes type fare, but I'm working on it. I find that I'm pretty sensitive to texture. Many things I've tried I simply don't enjoy the FEEL of them in my mouth. Trying to be open minded. Still nothing has come close to a good steak though. ;-)
Six things I could never do without
1. Smart phone. Don't worry, I'm polite enough to keep it in my pocket on a date. That said, I do LOVE the ability to go look up stuff on a whim; to find out the name of that guy who played the dude in that tv show seven years ago, or to look up that cool video you just saw, to find out how microwaves work, whatever. So much knowledge, all in a little slab of plastic in my pocket. I love it.

2. Dessert. Okay, I don't need it every time, but I really do love to finish a meal with something sweet. Usually chocolate, but exceptions happen.

3. The sun. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy being nocturnal. Plus I'm a pale redhead, so I'm not going to go tanning anytime soon. All that aside though, I hate going more than a couple of days without seeing sunshine, feeling the nice warmth on my skin. It only takes a few minutes honestly, but it makes a world of difference.

4. Cats. I've never not had at least one. I certainly don't mind most dogs, but I'll always be a cat person first and foremost. Have no fear of my becoming a crazy cat person; three is my upper limit these days, and I prefer just two.

5. Time to myself. Whether it be quiet time in bed after waking up, some gaming on the Xbox or PC, whatever. No matter how much fun I might be having, there's always a point when I've had enough of other people and just need a break to recharge.

6. Time with friends. Despite the above, I'm not good at being a complete recluse. There's always a point where I'm tired of just being on my own. When I need actual flesh and blood human socialization. So as in most things, there's a balance to be found.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The nature of the universe, my place in it, and how futile it is to wonder since it's likely unknowable. Then wondering anyway, because it's too damn interesting not to. Huh, I got a little deep there. Something a little more down to earth then, hmm. How about sex? Yeah, I think about that too.
On a typical Friday night I am
Either settling in for a long night of gaming, movies, internet and/or quiet chores (so as not to wake my apartment neighbours), or out with friends before coming home for a shorter night of gaming, movies, internet and/or quiet chores. I do my best to stick to the same sleep schedule over the weekend that I have the rest of the week you see. However I will make the switch for long/vacation weekends, to better match up with everyone else. I'm usually fairly adept at dealing with the "jet lag".
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There's three things you should know about me that are a little unconventional. If any of them causes you discomfort then I'm afraid we likely wouldn't work out. None of these things define me outright of course, but they're a big enough part of my identity that I wouldn't want to keep them from the (potentially) important people in my life.

1. I'm a furry, and active in the furry fandom.
2. I'm polyamorous and practice ethical non-monogamy.
3. I'm (mildly, for the moment) active in the fetish community.

I'm not going to expand much on these things here, but by all means let me know if you'd like me to explain further. I don't purport to be an expert in any of the subjects of course, but I can certainly give you my point of view.
You should message me if
You're looking for a friend with potential for more. I generally don't look for hook-ups; I want at least SOME kind of emotional connection before things turn physical. I am an affectionate person however, so hugs and cuddles are almost always welcome. So if any of the above piques your curiosity in the least, drop me a line!
