My self-summary
Hi! I just moved to NY so I'm looking forward to exploring the city and meeting people. I'm adventurous, curious, and love being outdoors. I love visiting new places, trying new foods, learning about, and exploring the world. After living in four countries and travelling through over 50, I learned how to be happy and at peace. Experiencing how people live around the world has made me deeply understand how to live and let live.

I'm very laid back and cheery, but can be serious around topics that are important to me. I get frustrated (but generally understanding) when I see people being greedy or inconsiderate, and I'm fiercely honest and loyal to friends. I assume the best in people unless they give me repeated reasons to think otherwise.

I graduated from Cornell double majoring in Engineering Physics and Computer Science, so expect some nerdy conversations. I'm also interested in politics, economics, and history. I'm fluent in two languages and can carry simple conversations in two more (excluding languages I use to talk to computers).
What I’m doing with my life
Ultimately I want to live and share a happy and fulfilling life with my family and friends, while having a positive impact on the community and the world. Currently, I'm working on data/ranking algorithms to support travel/explore features on Google Search and Google Maps. I love my job as it has amazing technical challenges, and has a positive impact globally. It also ties in with my love of exploring and learning about the world!

I believe life isn't about goals, but about balance and continual progress. I try to balance these three equally important aspects:
1) Learning about and exploring the world.
2) Spending time with family and friends.
3) Achieving FI (financial independence) so I can choose to work only on projects I enjoy and believe will make the world a better place.
I’m really good at
Problem solving, getting things done, and making decisions! I'm also really good at listening and understanding the points of view of others.
The first things people usually notice about me
People say I have a great smile and am always happy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like any book that provokes thought, gives me a different perspective on life, or teaches me something new. I read both fiction and non-fiction. I read a very broad spectrum to expand my mind - for example, I've read Rand and Sinclair, polar opposites. I also read religious texts and manifestos to learn about various perspectives. However, I always have a soft spot for sci-fi, and currently my favourite author is Neal Stephenson.

I love adventure movies, comedies, documentaries, and cartoons. Disney, Pixar, and Studio Ghibli are amazing. Indiana Jones, Lawrence of Arabia, and Star Wars are some of my favourite movies.

I have a wide taste in music - I listen to music to suit my mood. Recently, I've been listening to mostly indy rock, especially Wolfwother, Cage the Elephant, Imagine Dragons, Gorillaz, Weezer, and Caravan Palace.

To me, the most important thing about food is variety! Usually I'll choose the thing on the menu I've had the least or haven't heard of before. As a result, I've tried (and like) a lot of the stranger foods out there like durian, stinky tofu, hákarl (Icelandic "rotten" shark), fugu, insects, moose, etc.
The six things I could never do without
1) Friends and family.
2) Being outdoors.
3) The prospect of exploring somewhere new.
4) Great and varied food.
5) Good beer and wine.
6) Letting my mind ponder life.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, and how to be truly happy. Places to explore next, things I can do to make this world a better place... if only people took the time to understand their enemies.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing with browsing the Internet (I promise I'm not a hermit). Having dinner or drinks with friends. On the road at the start of a trip.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I didn't have any desire to date until recently. I hope it's not too late to meet someone I can really connect with :-/
You should message me if
You:
- Are a genuinely nice, open-minded, and happy person.
- Are excited to learn about, explore, and experience the world.
- Love the outdoors.
- Believe in equality for all (including having an equal relationship).
- Are a "mustachian": someone who believes happiness lies in a simple life away from competitive consumerism.

Go ahead and message me if you think we'd get along! I don't believe in that whole sexist "gals should wait for guys" nonsense :P
