My self-summary
Well, I'm honest to a fault. I I have lived alone for 5+ years and am now divorced. I was married for 32 years, and no relationship of that duration is disolved without great thought and care.

I am a strong minded, kind hearted person. I am independent and capable. I take good care of others and try to take good care of myself. I love to laugh and I love to cook.

I have worked hard to develop myself and have worked hard to provide a life for myself and my loved ones.

I (actually hate starting every sentence with "I") am hopeful for a happy future even though it is not a future I chose or envisioned.

I am an optimist.
What I’m doing with my life
Pretty basic stuff, but I'm hopeful that soon I will have a little more latitude to branch out.

I am employed full-time in a fairly interesting environment. I love my workplace and am grateful for the calliber of people I associate with on a daily basis. Almost to a person, they are not only intelligent but caring. I feel extremely fortunate since the way the economy is looking, I'll probably be working until forever.

I am "Mom" to two great dogs and two great cats. All of my four-legged family are rescues and some suffer scars from previous, less happy, lives. They are my loves.

I have one son and two beautiful grand-daughters who live very far away from me. I miss having them in my daily life.

I try to always be aware of what is going on in my friends' and family's life and offer friendship and care where it is needed.
I’m really good at
Hm, I thought I did this already. I'm probably good at any number of things that I don't even notice, but I know I'm good at being a friend, I'm a good cook, and I am good at gratitude.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile and my zaney, self-deprecating sense of humor. I think most strangers notice my politeness and friendliness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Wow, I have so many "favorites". At the top of the list in music - J.S. Bach, Baroque music in general. I also am very fond of Blue Grass, folk, really good classic rock, and New Age.

There are too many books to even be able to do justice to them, but one of my favorites is "Soundless", by Lysa Williams.

Movies? The Harry Potter series, Captain's Courageous, It's a Wonderful Life...

Ah, food, My absolute favorite is authentic Italian food. I also love French, especially Basque, and really good down-home American. I also enjoy Chinese and other Asian foods. I also like to try things I have never eaten - within reason. I haven't had an urge to try bugs.
Six things I could never do without
Good Food
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The improvement of the condition of man in general; the environment; cooking and food; the return to a local food movement and the treatment of animals raised for food; my spiritual advancement.
On a typical Friday night I am
Walking my dogs and going to my favorite place for a glass of wine or two.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am terrified of dating.

You don't think I sound like a complete nut case and share some of my interests and are willing to share some of yours.
