My self-summary
Starting these self summary things always feel a bit awkward to me so I'll just lean in and say that I'm kind of a big deal. One of those rare Atlanta natives you hear so much about. Though to be honest I grew up OTP in the metro area but am very committed to the ITP lifestyle and have been culturally appropriating its ways for years. I like to think that I'm funny, people like to say that I'm silly, and others complain that I'm sarcastic. I'm a bit adventurous, usually in the form of travel when I can pull it off. I also am pretty easy going and can enjoy a good patio and beer as much as night at home watching netflix. I might seem a little shy at first, but that goes away as you get to know me. What I definitely am though is kind, a good friend, and the requisite amount of stupid that everyone should be (just enough to make life interesting but not enough to regret). Some random facts about me, I'm from the south yet I don't like grits, for the longest time I seriously thought flamenco dancing was flamingo dancing, and to this day I cannot spell the word bureaucrat without looking it up first...which I did in order to write that sentence.
What I’m doing with my life
I studied history, international affairs, and also some languages that I can either speak very well or at least fake it for a couple of words. I then joined the Peace Corps and taught English in Kazakhstan for two years which was terrifying, frustrating, and amazing all at the same time. After surviving that wonderful (said non-sarcastically) fiasco, I moved back, got a masters, and bought a house near Grant Park. I work with my family in our company which I love, and as a bonus it gets me into Dragoncon for free each year. Other than that I live, I laugh, I drink, I know things, and volunteer with a local organization that resettles refugees.
I’m really good at
Cooking, frisbee related games, riding horses (though I don't often get to anymore), remembering obscure facts, pretending to know more than I do, and climbing trees (though honestly that was done mostly in my younger days).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like a lot of things but usually read books about history, politics, and science fiction. For example The Great Game, Ender's Game, Vernor Vinge's books.

I also like most genres of music. As long as it is a good song I don't care if it's pop, rap, or country. Though blues is probably my favorite.

As for movies, a few examples: The Big Sleep, Arsenic and Old Lace, Escape from New York, Top Secret, Star Wars, Anchorman... and many more.

My favorite food tends to be anything that tastes good, and I love to try cooking new recipes.

Finally in the TV department: Atlanta, The Strain, Halt and Catch Fire, Community, Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Silicon Valley, Game of Thrones.
The six things I could never do without
Well, indoor plumbing is pretty nice. Besides that, beer, friends, family, movies, and traveling. (Don't let the fact that friends and family came after beer throw you, I promise you it was a really really close)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Things that confuse me..... Also, Places that I still want to see and other stuff on my bucket list.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing with friends out or at home watching something while doing a crossword puzzle
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an avid collector of notebooks and journals and probably have more than I could ever write in. Not in a hoarder like where I have a serious problem way, but instead a sort of I am like Golum and they are PRECIOUSES! way.
You should message me if
If you are easy going, if you like stimulating conversation, if you like ridiculous conversation, if you want talk about travely like things, or just to say hello
