My self-summary
When I was a kid, I wanted to be the female version of Robin Williams. Well, I still love him, but I have other comedians who I am more fond of (Eddie Izzard, Dylan Moran, Gabriel Iglesias, Monty Python, Dane Cook). I may not be a comic myself, but I am terribly sarcastic, and I love to joke around. I could spend more time than is probably healthy watching good comedy. I've never actually been to comedy club or seen a comic live (go figure, eh?), and I would love to do that.

I'm also a bit of a bar fly. I'm not really a huge drinker--it's rare that I drink much at home--but I love going to a neighborhood dive to play a game of pool or pinball or meet/talk to an eclectic group of people, maybe even some wii bowling (watch out, I'm pretty good). I'm a recovering bartender, so I guess bars are a place that I'm accustomed to. I don't drink beer, but I love hard cider, Jameson...sometimes Captain Morgan if the mood strikes. Not a huge fan of trendy bars or clubs, but give me a neighborhood bar with my preferred whiskey, a pool table and a challenging opponent, and I'll be a happy camper.

I'm a big animal person. Its been a rough past couple of years, and I am finally getting back on my feet. Unfortunately my faith in humanity is still kinda shot, and with a background in customer service and bartending, options have been kind of limited, seeing as I am trying to restore that faith and neither retail nor bartending are terribly conducive to that. So, I just started working at a doggie daycare. My theory is, since critters have gotten me this far, I may as well run with it and see where I can go with it.

I don't have any pets of my own at present (my ex got my kitty), but I have a god-dog, Cha-Cha, and her daughter Honey (they are my friend's dogs, but I helped raise Honey, and have spent more time with the 2 of them than I have people in the last couple of years). I was living in East Oakland for a while, and ended up fostering numerous pit bull puppies, as well. Besides 5 cats and 3 dogs (plus 2 god-dogs, raising 2 litters of pups, and fostering numerous other puppies), I've also had 13 rats (she was pregnant when I bought her....THAT was a surprise) 3 cockatiels, and numerous fish of various breeds (including one goldfish who enjoyed being held. I know, wtf, but there ya go) and hope someday to be able to get an African Grey parrot and another dog and cat. I would have a menagerie if I had the space and money! I have critter stories for days, so really--be an animal lover who can talk pets ad nauseum and will proudly show off pictures of your critters like they are your children too, otherwise you will likely find me to be utterly exhausting and boring.

Lastly, I'm on here just to get my feet wet. My last relationship really did a number on me, and my libido seems to have gotten lost somewhere in the chaos, but I figure I need to at least go out and meet people and try to be social again. Can't go on living in a tower forever, right? So, please, don't contact me if you are looking to get into a relationship right now, or are hoping to get laid immediately, cuz it ain't gonna happen here. Seriously. No, you can't "fix" my libido, no I won't "just fool around and see if it comes back" (yes, I really have had people say this to me). My trust issues have trust issues which have spawned little trust issues of their own, and the only thing that will fix it is time and patience. If, however, you are interested in some intelligent conversation and perhaps a new friend to be an ass with, play video games with, and share your pet with, well then you know what to do ;)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm floudering a little, but working toward NOT floundering steadily :P I am a dog handler at at a doggie day care at present. My passion for books had pointed me toward publishing, but when the market crashed, the industry went to e-books, which meant downsizing, and thus things got a little obnoxious on my end. So, I'm still looking for "what I want to be when I grow up"--although working with Cesar Millan or Tia Torres would top my list if I could do anything.
I’m really good at
Well, I'm not sure that it would qualify as "really good at," but certainly I love to play pool. I love to laugh, and I think I'm pretty good at it. My laugh tends to carry, though--if you ever need to locate me in large, crowded room, just call my cell phone and tell me a good joke. You'll be able to locate me in no time. I'm also a really good listener, and rumor has it I tend to give out excellent advice. I'm not saying that it's easy to follow--just that when I sit down and have a think about something, I can come up with some pretty good stuff. I'm also about as non-judgmental as they come. I'm empathetic and nurturing. And I can play devil's advocate so well that there have been times when I think Satan himself would have avoided going up against me.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm spunky, sarcastic, and fun loving. I love games and spontaneous adventures. I have a great smile, and lotsa curves.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books! My god, I'm such a bibliophile, where to begin. I love fantasy (George RR Martin, Robin Hobb, CS Friedman, Glen Cook, Gene Wolf), fiction (Christopher Moore, Jasper Fforde, Tom Robbins), and tons of non fic (particularly history, philosophy/linguistics, and sociology). I could spend all day and thousands of dollars in a bookstore.

Mmmm...movies I'm almost as big of a movie junkie as I am a bibliophile. Some of my favorites that come to mind are Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Boondock Saints, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, 13th Warrior, Always, Dangerous Beauty, and Hero--but there are many more that I love/own.

Musak I'm everywhere and nowhere with music. I joke that I don't have good taste, but that I like what I like. This is because I lurves me some "cock rock," aka 80s hair metal (Journey, Scorpions, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi). But this is not all, nor necessarily my greatest, love when it comes to music. My music files include Pink, David Bowie, Van Halen, Evanescence, Billy Idol, VAST, Miranda Lambert, Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd, Toby Keith, Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash, Queen, Janis Joplin, and The Sisters of Mercy. I suppose I could have saved space by saying most rock (classic or otherwise), just about anything 80s, country (from the 80's on, generally), some pop, blues, and some classical/instrumental. I might have also mentioned my terrible, terrible weakness for soundtracks.

Tasty, tasty foods As long as its not seafood or squash, I'm usually willing to at least try it. I'm a huge fan of meat--the rarer, the better (hey, no one said I couldn't love animals and still eat them. I love cows, I love steak--when I was around 10 I tried to go vegetarian (I'd just seen City Slickers), but since then I've gotten over it), I'm terribly fond of Pad Thai. Spicy, garlicy pastas are good too. I love food with kick. I go through a bottle of Sriracha (Asian-style hot sauce) every couple of months...and that's just me using it. Salsa can be combined with almost anything not sweet (and some stuff that is) to make it better. I love vinegar (especially balsamic), but not in my hot sauce (thus I'm not a huge fan of tobasco-type hot sauces). How did this turn into a review of hot sauce? Does that count as a favorite food? I'm passionate about condiments!
Six things I could never do without
1. Animals. Seriously.

2. Stupid games on facebook. Seriously, awesome way to escape life for a while.

3. Comedy. Isn't amazing how laughter really DOES make you feel better in general? Serotonin . Crazy shit.

4. Movies. Love em. I have a tendency to quote from them frequently. Sure, I could be clever, but why when someone else already phrased it so well? ;)

5. Books. Have you ever reached the end of a book or series that you were really in to and find that you are mourning the loss of your favorite characters? Am I alone in this?

6. Video Games. Yes, I love them. This should probably be bundled with facebook games, but really, they aren't the same. of course, then I could have said pool here instead. Maybe I'll just umbrella encompass them both with "beating guys at traditionally male-dominated stuff" and leave it at that. :P
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Is it worth getting cable if all I really care about is Adult Swim, Comedy Central, Animal Planet, the History Channel and CNN?

-I know that money can't buy happiness, but I feel that I should be given the opportunity to learn this lesson for myself.

-The problem with the whole guys/girls relationship thing is that guys tend to want a good girl who will be bad just for him, and chicks tend to wand a bad boy who will be good just for her...and both are damn hard to find.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally there is a bar involved at some point during the evening, and (depending on the bar and who I'm with) a game or 8 of pool.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've always had this fear of dying alone.
You should message me if
you have a good sense of humor, are intelligent, love animals, and are cool with just being friends for now. Bonus points if you love pool!
