My self-summary
I have written so much here–you could really learn a lot about what I like and care about by reading my FAQs below. Those things matter, but I would argue that we are not what we like or do or have or want but what we want–our dreams about tomorrow drive our choices today.

I am here because I want to find a partner–someone who loves adventure and can push me out of my comfort zone, someone who is comfortable living an independent life but allowing me in and who is comfortable with me having my own life, but letting them in. Geography is not an issue. If this sounds like you, send me a message. If not, best of luck in your search!
What I’m doing with my life
I have a four year old daughter, she is my life and we do cool things together. Last year we traveled all over the U.S. and Central Europe. We are a little more grounded at the moment, but always looking ahead to the next adventure. I teach at the University level and I work on environmental justice and human rights. These things all deserve more explanation than I can offer in a blurb; feel free to ask me about them.
I’m really good at
I spend a lot of of my non-work time doing photography, art, and design projects. I recently learned how to screenprint in my apartment. I would love to trade art/photography tips!
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my blue/green eyes.

When people get to know me I think they are surprised by the way my mind works–I see complexity in everything. The world is so interesting and full of nuances. I am looking for someone who sees the world in various shades.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This is a lot to cover in one section. Here goes.

Food: I am a vegetarian. You can eat what you want.

Books and Movies: I love to read. My top three books (which have all held positions on the favorite list for years) are The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, and Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernières. I like movies and in the past I have been a voracious documentary watcher. Lately I usually choose light and airy–the world is too full of serious things, I need laughs.

Music. I listen to a lot of indy, acoustic-style stuff. But that's a huge generalization. I like so many different artists and genres. Ask me about it!

Podcasts: I believe that I have listened to every episode of This American Life and Radiolab at least once. I also love Planet Money, Snap Judgement, Death, Sex, and Money, and The Longest Shortest Time (please come back!) Some might call is obsessed, I prefer dedicated.
The six things I could never do without
I sort of hate to say this, but I would be lost without my (1) computer and (2) phone. As a person who has lived and traveled all over, communication technology connects me to the people I love no matter where we are.

My (3) camera is practically an extension of my arm.

I have a love/hate relationship with my (4) car. I can't function without it in the Midwest, but I would love to be in a place where I wouldn't need it.

The (5) sun. Besides the obvious fact that we would all cease to exist without it, I am an outdoor girl through and through. I just got back from my annual beach trip with my family and my spirit feels renewed. But beach, woods, mountains, prairie-the fresh air has the same effect on me anywhere.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything, seriously. One of my Strengths is input, I am a collector of information, and there are few subjects that I do not connect with. I love deep conversations and learning more about people and experiences.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have started and quickly abandoned no less than seven blogs.
You should message me if
I am always looking for interesting people who have done awesome things. If you have a great story, I want to hear it. Send me a message, tell me about yourself.
