My self-summary
Morgan Freeman once called me and some associates a "raucous bunch of miscreants."

I am curious, and flighty, and cuddly and present. I'd probably like to talk to you. Would way prefer to do it in person.
What I’m doing with my life
I am aiming towards academia. My goal is to teach at a college, well and with an eye towards new ideas and social justice.

I got into science through science writing, a stint in undergrad interning in the science section of a magazine made me realize if I could read science I must be able to do science. I've since been applying this mindset more generally.

I'm studying how the brain builds itself. As this is quite a puzzle, i am instead cutting my teeth by figuring out how cuttlefish camouflage and how seashells are made. I am a Mathematical Biologist and I plan to have a PhD by the end of the year.

I am an explorer at the knowledge frontier and prefer uncharted adventures. Also, I am kinda exhausted.
I’m really good at
stacking things precariously.
The first things people usually notice about me
For a while I was getting "jake gyllenhaal" all the time, but people seem not to care about him anymore...

I get "You are a really good hugger!" a lot; not certain what that means, but then again I've never been in a hug without me in it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: I play ted leo, man man, florence and the machine, and pete seeger songs to myself on my banjo. I really like the band man man.
Food: I like to cook. It is good. I disproportionately like: brussel sprouts, asparagus, and miso soup. My favorite meals in the bay have been at Comis, Finfine, and the Red Door Cafe.
Film: Little Miss Sunshine and David Byrne's True Stories. I also like non-dumb action movies. Moonrise kingdom was sold to me as "a very mike levy movie." The describer was not off their mark.
Books: I read a fair amount, the best thing I've read recently is Maggie Nelson's "The Argonauts." I'm currently finishing up reading a plot driven collection of short stories, lots o' sciency things, and Tracy K. Smith's memoir (she's a poet).
The six things I could never do without
Laughter, new ideas, the Sun, some excitement rising on the horizon, beautiful people, a few delicious things to put in my mouth.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to do things i don't know how to do.
Banjos, myth, and math.
How warm the sun feels.
On a typical Friday night I am
Wrestling strangers (Martial Arts Practice) then drinking fancy wine with friends.

A&0 x4.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I still like Barack Obama.
I went to Brown. I'm from Long Island.

I am open to longer term commitments but am not rushing into them. I would say -- more than anything else -- I am looking for cute friends to cuddle with; with an option for more physical intimacy and intellectual connection. I am wary of putting any energy into someone who does not want a somatic (not necessarily sexual) connection with me near off the bat.

Also, I am currently planning on moving to Paris in a year, but we will see what happens with that.
You should message me if
You can hold your own, don't require recipes, like the out of doors, and think you can teach me something.

You can ask and answer good questions (Ideally while cuddling).

You could imagine going weeks without a shower if an adventure called for it.

You like eating and drinking nice things.
