My self-summary
After two marriages, two other committed relationships, and various other involvements, the one thing I've learned about women is that I haven't learned one thing about women. I suppose growing up without sisters didn't help.

Assets: Smart, funny, honest, well-read. I can hold my own in conversations on a variety of subjects. I'm a quick learner, and have no problem with admitting when I've made a mistake. I consider myself a feminist, and am not looking for someone I can dominate. I'm not jealous or possessive. I'm a decent cook, and I keep a clean apartment.

Liabilities: No car, no property, no savings, no investments - I totally live paycheck to paycheck. I can be judgmental and curmudgeonly, and I do not suffer fools gladly. Oh yeah, and I snore.

I don't really have any "type" that I'm attracted to. The only common characteristics among the women who I've been involved with are creativity and independence - kind of shooting myself in the foot when it comes to long term relationships, I guess.
What I’m doing with my life
After nine years at the Book Bin in Corvallis, the last seven on the third floor supervising the catalog, online and shipping departments - in April of 2015 I started working at Footwise in Corvallis. As of January, I'm a full-time cobbler - you can see me working through the 3rd Street window.. I'm also a bit of a Civil War buff, especially Civil War photography and the U.S. Military Railroad. I read, I watch films, I walk. I write. I've had some art training, and hope to return to that when I hit Social Security age. I have a few close friends, and a lot of acquaintances.
I’m really good at
More than one friend has mentioned that they noticed I don't have a workplace persona, versus a friends persona, versus a family persona. I'm just always me. I guess that's what I'm good at. I'm also artistically talented, good at math and science, and an excellent writer. And humble.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm going to go with my hair. I really have no idea. I should ask.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the music of the Sixties and Seventies, and appreciate music from earlier days, but stopped following new music in the late 80's, except for people (Springsteen, Costello, etc.) I already knew. I've usually got a couple of books going, and my tastes range widely, from Hammett and Chandler to Ursula K. Leguin and Tolkien to Michael Chabon and Jonathan Lethem. The only TV shows I watch regularly are The Daily Show and the Colbert Report. My movie choices run the gamut from Kurosawa to "Clerks."
Six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Quiet! I'm thinking!
On a typical Friday night I am
At Squirrel's Tavern for Happy Hour. Even though I'm not much of a drinker, Squirrel's has been a home-away-from-home for going on 40 years, and it's a place I can go to on Friday night and count on seeing someone I know and like.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Is this a trick question?
