My self-summary
I'm intelligent with a decent sense of humor and a subtle appreciation of life/existence. I'm usually upbeat but shy in public situations. If there's a lot of people around that I've never met I'm definitely more of a wall flower than a social butterfly.

I just moved back to Brainerd after being away for some years. I'm currently living with a friend of mine and working full time so I'm a little busy. By the end of the year I hope to start an apprenticeship with the Boiler-Makers Union.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been moving around quite a bit for the last few years and have finally started getting tired of it. Although I like travel I'm finding that I want to start working on a place to call home.

In pursuit of this I am looking forward to developing my professional career and am exploring job possibilities. Hopefully I'll get what I want but if I do it will require a lot more travel for the next several years.

In my free time I am pursuing some personal interest studies. These include Self-Improvement, Psychology, Eastern Cultures, and Yoga.

Other than that I play a little guitar, dabble with creative writing and just kick it around the house.
I’m really good at
Listening. Active listening is a skill you need to practice.

I'm a pretty decent cook, and what's more, I love cooking for people :)

I'm awesome at making an idiot out of myself

Being honest, respectful and kind. I stay true to myself and as true as I can with other people.

Conversation, but I get quite or daze out when my mind is on other things.

I have a strong soul.
The first things people usually notice about me
People seem to comment most on either my voice or my smile. They say "You've got a nice voice (smile)," so that must be something that stands out.

People usually notice that I'm not your standard personality. Just like us all I'm a unique person and don't have any problem embracing it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I have a lot of favorites but here's a few:

*Authors - Brian Jaques, Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman, Anne Rice (still scared of her take on Snow White though), Bram Stoker, and I'll need to go through my books to find more.

*Movies - the Big Lebowski, the Neverending Story, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Vampire Hunter D, Terminator 1 & 2, Batman (the original), Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, the Matrix (the first), Pan's Labyrinth (Giullermo del Torro is a genius), Hellboy 1 & 2, Tron, Star Wars (originals), Star Trek Generations and First Contact and plenty of others

*Music - Nobuo Uematsu, Phantogram, Pink Floyd, Sublime, the White Stripes, Jack Johnson, the Smashing Pumpkins, Enya, Radiohead, Mason Jennings, etc... , it really depends on what moves me musically. I like complicated and well thought out scores, deep or poetic lyrics, heavy beats particularly when matched with light ethereal harmonies and style. I'm not a big fan of country.

*Food - Oranges, sushi (particularly eel), shrimp, pizza, carrots, apples, pineapple, potatoes, corn....I don't really know. I'm a strict omnivore so I'll try just about anything once just to find out whether or not I like it.
Six things I could never do without
Sleep, good food, family/friends, pets, an equal balance between companionship and solitude, and peace of mind.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to resolve some of the stress in my life, friends/family, random thoughts on existence or state of being, the possibility of returning to school or what I would like to achieve within the next several years... and finances, don't we all.

I absolutely love appreciating a moment, just hearing or seeing something new or old. Sometimes it's best not to think, right?

I've also recently embarked upon a journey of self exploration so I've been spending a lot of time thinking about myself and how I can be a better "me".
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm a home body. I don't mind going places or doing things but I'm not a fan of crowds. I enjoy being with a small group of friends to go bowling or see a movie, something like that, but I enjoy hanging out with just one or two people the most.

Occasionally I will go someplace crowded to write. I find that being surrounded by people yet completely alone helps me concentrate on what I want to write and how I want to write it. Besides people watching can provide inspiration and insight.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Being honest is a tough policy. It drives a lot of people away ironically. I guess people would rather be lied to...seems strange if you ask me.

Although I like to stay optimistic I'm fairly sardonic.

I'm kind of an idiot sometimes. I'm analytical so I can sometimes get the wrong idea about things if I'm not corrected.

I like to deal with bad news first, work through it, then sit back and enjoy the good news.
