My self-summary
Is there anyone who doesn't hate filling these out? Let's see, I'm an intelligent, witty, caring, decent man who is ready to take his time getting to know a woman before jumping into long-term commitments. I want to chose the right woman this time, and I want to get to know her mind as well as get to know her body.
I'm a nerd / geek, but I'm also able to converse intelligently about politics, world affairs, pop culture, music (from Mozart to Mumford & Sons) and art. (Pollock did some amazing work, Warhol is overrated, and the great masters are referred to as such for good reason.)
I have my BA in history, and I dream of completing my masters and teaching, but I work in an office for now as I also work to make my dreams real.
I love to read, and my taste in authors is actually quite varied. I appreciate Sci-Fi both old and new, but I don't confine myself to those fields. However, I will argue (vehemently) with anyone who tries to say that Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, or Terry Pratchet do not have as much to say on the human condition as Dickens or Shakespeare.
I try to be polite, kind, and giving, I have a deep respect for all kinds of women, and I believe that every woman is beautiful.
What I’m doing with my life
Let's see - I have a full-time day job, I'm studying for my GRE's, trying to figure out where I want to apply for graduate studies, helping to raise a teenager, and trying to meet a nice girl. Isn't that enough?
I’m really good at
Intelligent conversation. Intellectually, I'm kind of a jack of all trades, but I recently got my BA in history, so I can (and will, if not stopped) go on at length on certain subjects. For example, I've pretty conclusively proven that the War of the Roses set the wheels in motion for the current mess in the Middle East - although Henry VIII didn't help things, either.
The first things people usually notice about me
that I'm kinda awkward and may stumble over my words, but that I usually know what I'm talking about, and can discuss many subjects reasonably well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - many: Princess Bride, Song of Ice and Fire, WWI non-fiction, Discworld, Ray Bradbury, Mortimer's Rumpole books, Dresden Files, Heinlein, Asimov, and so many more.
TV - Whatever I'm currently shotgunning on Netflix.
Movies - lots. I enjoy many, and for many reasons.
Music - Eclectic: Mark Knopfler, Gov't Mule, Tori Amos, the Veronicas, Mozart, Blackmore's Night, and on, and on.
The six things I could never do without
My son
Everything else is pretty negotiable (barring the obvious - food, water, etc.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Where do we go from here.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with the boy, making dinner, watching TV, and talking about his week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm elclectic pagan. Or, as I like to say, "religiously unaffiliated."
You should message me if
You like to talk. You like to laugh. You like something you've seen here.
