My self-summary
I came to West Virginia in 2011 on a temporary work assignment, not expecting to be here for very long. Six years later, I'm still here and enjoying it more than I thought I would.

I have a great job that I enjoy, great friends that I never would have met had I not come to WV, and enough hobbies to keep me from being bored.

I love being outdoors when the weather is warm, kayaking, hiking, rock climbing, and playing tennis. When the winter weather arrives, I prefer playing cards and games with my friends, reading a good book in front of the fire, and taking online classes to further my education. I try to get to the beach as often as possible.

Traveling has always been a big part of my life. I would love to reduce my work load to the point that I can take off several months a year to travel around the country in an RV, seeing everything there is to see.

Life is too short to do the things you don't love doing. Discover what you love to do, pack a bag, and let's go do it!
What I’m doing with my life
Work: Tracking down people and reuniting them with long-lost inheritances. I'm a forensic genealogist and enjoy my work most of the time. I also own and manage rental property.

Home: Consuming a book or two a week; trying my hand at cooking using fresh, healthy ingredients; hanging out with friends both in person and online (the best way to maintain far-flung friendships); and researching a wide variety of topics.
I’m really good at
Crock pot meals - I'm a bachelor, I'd starve if it weren't for my crock pot. I'm also really good at solving Sudoku puzzles.
The first things people usually notice about me
When I smile, my dimples are very noticeable. Otherwise, possibly my green eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: I enjoy reading and consume several books a week. My library at home could pass for a bookstore with its variety of topics. For purely recreational reading, I enjoy Stuart Woods, Jeffrey Archer, Harry Turtledove, S. M. Stirling, Clive Cussler, Nelson DeMille, and James Patterson. Otherwise, I read a lot of books about kayaking, homesteading, real estate law, writing, and finances.

MOVIES: I don't actually watch many movies. Most that I do watch are recommendations from friends.

SHOWS: I also don't have television at home, so don't really watch many shows. I watch a show online sometimes, but I don't have any favorites.

MUSIC: Very eclectic mix. I'll listen to most anything.

FOOD: I enjoy good, healthy food made from fresh ingredients. I don't eat much meat, but enjoy it when I do. I especially enjoy Italian, Greek, French, and Mexican. If I can make it in a crock pot, I'll eat it.
Six things I could never do without
1. A steady supply of interesting things to read
2. Education
3. Friends & Family
4. My kayak
5. Passport and other traveling sundries
6. Good, comfortable shoes
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My life comes with a soundtrack. When I'm not actively thinking about something, music is playing in my mind. If you hear me humming, chances are I don't even realize it.

I do think about my work quite a bit. I solve a lot of problems in the shower or lying in bed. I think a lot about places I'd like to visit, stories I'd like to write, and people I'd like to meet. Time travel comes up a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually having dinner and playing games/watching a movie with friends.
