My self-summary
Often people say I'm filled with contradictions, but in my mind everything goes together.

I love exploring new places. I dream of spinning a globe and heading off to whichever spot my finger lands on..

I enjoy: taking road trips, French impressionist paintings, being in radical spaces, James Baldwin, exploring, working to abolish the imperialist white supremacist capitalist heteropatriarchy, and walking aimlessly throughout the city.

I would love to meet someone who is down for a conversation that is almost entirely nonsensical.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to find a balance between staying grounded in the present and skipping through the clouds, searching for more. However by day I'm a social worker engaging children and adolescents on the West side and I absolutely love it.

I'm an East Coast transplant and trying to see as much of the Midwest as I can

I also conduct research on the KKK..which sounds a lot cooler than it actually is
I’m really good at
Making friends with randoms and then staying in touch with them. This is especially true for people I sit next to on airplanes..or cab drivers..or people I meet in bookstores.

I've also been told I make kick-ass lavender cookies.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm that person drinking an iced coffee in the dead of winter
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love The Bluest Eye- I learn something new every time I read it. I also enjoy anything written by Isabelle Allende, Erik Larson and Ta-Nehisi Coates. Harry Potter. and Harry Potter again.

Remember The Titans. Love & Basketball. The Adjustment Bureau. You've Got Mail. Iron Man. Men in Black II.

John Legend. Lauryn Hill. Chrisette Michel. Amy Winehouse. K'NAAN. Johnny Cash. Janelle Monàe.

Shonda is Queen. Modern Family. Sherlock.

NPR. I just started listening to Serial (I know, I'm late) and it's totally addicting.
Six things I could never do without
- large, loud family gatherings
- thunderstorms
- roomates: from high school, college, summer programs, get the point)
- ginormous puppies that make it difficult to breathe when they accidentally sit on you
- sangria. red, white, peach, passionfruit..I love it all

- Being about something. I believe that dedicating yourself wholly, passionately to something, anything, makes life worth living. I want to be surrounded by people who are living out their dreams.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I can actually learn Spanish instead of pretending, US politics, when I can get a puppy and how to change culture.

OH and trying to understand why anyone would think hamburger helper is a worthwhile product. I'm upset it exists.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with my friends trying to live a night that we will never forget... but usually we just end up doing something low-key, like catching up over drinks and eating homemade Moroccan food
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I always listen to Ice Cube's "It Was a Good Day" on the way to work.
You should message me if
You want to jump into the car and drive until you reach a town you've never heard of.

You have crinkly eyes

You want to join me for Grown Folks Stories at the Silver Room
