My self-summary
I'm an outdoorsy guy, transplanted from the south. I enjoy my time away from work mostly outdoors. My main forms of exercise are swimming and biking, which I do for fun, and also enjoy snowboarding, climbing (gym mostly so far), hiking, caving and a whole mess of other things. I'm looking for someone that can match wit, keep up with me in a sport or two and is fun to just hang out with.
What I’m doing with my life
Working at a "startup" and enjoying the great outdoors. Sometimes racing bikes or building them for kids in need (#TWFK). Becoming a beer snob (voluntarily), refining my taste in wine and good food thanks to some foodie friends. Growing coffee, building things from scratch, being an engineer/nerd. Trying new things, new experiences, and generally keeping busy and trying to not be bored.
I’m really good at
Repairing things, and usually ending up with "extra" screws, or reverse engineering things to do stuff they were not meant to do.
Swimming, biking, snowboarding.
Turns out I can usually cook decently. I turned a filing cabinet into a smoker for fun... it makes tasty ribs, bbq, and jerky.
Being patient and stubborn.
Slacking off (praise bob)
The first things people usually notice about me
I am from the south (born/raised) but lack the accent.
I don't really tan, I freckle.
I am quiet, at times.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
While I miss decent BBQ and home cooked southern food, I do enjoy the farm fresh movement out here. My foodie friends have spoiled me and introduced me to so many things I never even had opportunity to try back in the south, and I'm loving it. I enjoy just about anything, an have tried quite a few really strange foods.

Musically: I enjoy most anything. Lately its been bluegrass, though I do favor 80/90's rock/alt (STP, REM, INXS, Depeche Mode). In the car, my radio usually sits on NPR.

For video entertainment, I lean towards Action, Sci-fi. I don't usually watch TV, and only get the Broadcast (ATSC) channels. I opt for Netflix/prime/hulu/hbogo, all the online streaming things. I am currently watching old Dr Who, just finished the first season of Sense8 and got addicted to Orphan Black, Black Mirror, Dark Matter and a few others. I put on Portlandia or Always Sunny if I want something funny and am always waiting on the next season of Archer.

My book library is almost all Sci-Fi and classic fiction, sometimes I pick up old textbooks for fun.
Six things I could never do without
the great outdoors, and time to enjoy it in many different ways

a swimming pool or other body of water to swim in

My bikes (an addiction I am trying to bring under control)

my tripawed (dog)

the Sunday comics and a sense of humor to enjoy them (after all, they are the most important part of the paper)

good beer
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next big outing

some project to keep me occupied... and how to not procrastinate doing it

currently: when/where to go Scuba dive next, and should I go to Tahoe this weekend...

I use way too many parentheses (I think)
On a typical Friday night I am
planning or preparing for the weekend if it hasnt begun already

after-work bike ride if its light outside, or relaxing and trying out a new beer with friends over a game of cards against humanity

relaxing in the hot tub (solar heated)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an addiction, to dihydrogenmonoxide, in various forms
You should message me if
you like the outdoors and want someone to enjoy it with, want some adventures and spontaneity. You have a pair of welding gloves, and use them sometimes when cooking. Need a buddy for biking or Tahoe or a belayer for the climbing gym. Or you just want someone to chat with or go out and have a decent time with, Im fairly easy going despite what the rest of the profile might sound like (I do sit at home and relax a bunch, did I mention I made a solar heater for my hot tub?).

Or you just feel like it...
