My self-summary
I deeply like people, and enjoy interacting with folks. I laugh easily, and once they figure out that I'm actually joking, folks tend to find me amusing. I forgive human nature as best I can, 'cause I know I've got weak points, too.

Games are very important to me. They really help sharpen lots of different corners of the mind.

I grew up the kid of a pair of master's degrees, so I've always been interested in learning, and hold education to be extremely important.

I am a liberal, Midwestern Catholic by upbringing and choice, and see spirituality as a personal expression--most folks have a good chunk of truth in their spirituality, and I'd love to appreciate what works for them. Belief is a huge deal with me, although this transcends spirituality--gotta believe in people, writ large.

I am linguistical, neutral good, and the hero of the tale
What I’m doing with my life
I'm putting folks into jobs, and finding people who need folks. I meet a very wide variety of people in my work, and wouldn't have it any other way.
I’m really good at
I am good at understanding what you are saying and playing with concepts. I learn new skills quickly. I am strong, agile and flexible. I write well, and am capable of amazing feats of grammar. I have a good sense of strategy. I sing well* when the stereo is loud. I paint stuff*, too. I can cook* some things. I have a rather solid sense of design. I brew my own beer, yum! I am probably better at avoiding accidents while driving than most, particularly in shitty conditions. I've stared in a couple of plays, too!

*= maybe not REALLY good, but I'm trying to brag here.

Recently, I've been getting OK at soothsaying with some runes. Spooky!
The first things people usually notice about me
Personality, mostly. I tend to be memorable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm not great at deciding that I like A better than B, and C is my favorite. I'll instead inflict upon you a list of positive mentions!

Books: Dune, Tom Robbins, Michener, Phillip K. Dick, Illuminatus! Trilogy, Gaiman, Book of the New Sun, Herodotus...I find it really easy to get into a decent book. Shakespeare is decent even when on the page! Tennessee William's Glass Menagerie was great.

Movies: MST3K films (Mostly). New Dragon Gate Inn was a lot of fun, and I like Hero's (propagantastic) take on a classic historic episode. A Knight's Tale. I think Inglorious Basterds was a better movie than it got credit for, but I wouldn't say "favorite." Dancer in the Dark. I'm a sucker for Star Wars, and will use all the mental flexibility I have to work around the glaring problems of the new ones. A Streetcar Named Desire (original film version) is a PHENOMENAL production.

TV Shows: The Wire, Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Venture Brothers. The (original) Prisoner. Survivorman, 'cause Les Stroud is my hero. I don't feel like I have a very deep attachment to TV, although recently I've been falling in love with Doctor Who. Game o' Thrones is being done well.

Music: TMBG, Splashdown, Strauss, Atom and his Package, Live, R.E.M., Bjork, Tom Waits, Universal Hall Pass, Led Zeppelin. Dead Milkmen and/or Kennedys. Jim White! I have a lot of fun playing M.S.I. once every four months.

Games: Metal Gear Solid series, Smash Brothers Brawl. Warmachine/Hordes. Settlers of Catan. Infinity. Presently running some Polish-esque mercenaries through a devastated town in Mordheim. Developing a taste for backgammon, Humanity's oldest tabletop game.

Food: Thai beef salad; barbecued pork steak, plums, feta and Stilton cheese, swanky coffees of whatever type, espresso/cappuchino that doesn't taste like charcoal. FRESH VEGETABLES. French bread, horseradish mustard, Polish cookies that my mom makes around Christmas whose name I can't spell.
Six things I could never do without
Long car drives, games and natureland.

The excitement I feel ahead of me. My fellow humans.

Puns. Your new fact for the day: The one pun that translates between English and Japanese is "Matsu no ki no matsu," "Pining for a Pine tree."

More as they develop.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what precisely "an old soul" means.
On a typical Friday night I am
Typically being typical.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't know what it means to have an old soul.

Also, I giggle when I type "committee."

I am terrible at catching fish.

Oho, big man letting go of incriminating secrets here. I demand a retrial.

Ok, here's a good one--I really enjoy drinking out of fancy teacups, and am proud of a 100+ year old teacup I have that was made in Prussia.
You should message me if
Message me if you'd like to be able to brag to your friends that you've had your writing read by some guy named Todd.

I am likely game for any sort of adventure closer to this side of the law than the other. Since adventures are more fun with partners...

Also, I'm trying to see all of the Shakespeare performances I can (at least of plays I've not yet seen). If you know of a showing, or would want to be asked out to one, then message!
