My self-summary
I'm a Boston area native and live and work in the city. I can be a little shy and quiet at times, but can carry on a conversation and have a pretty dry sense of humor. Despite my name on this thing, I'm not actually much of a morning person.
What I’m doing with my life
Here's a teeny-tiny slice of what I'm doing with it:

I'm in a job where I write a lot, and I've found that I sort of like it, so forgive me if I go on for too long.

I'm pretty independent and walk everywhere. I like exploring the city and taking daytrips and checking out other parts of New England. I also like to bicycle places. Oh, and I swim quite a bit, but for exercise, not as transportation. I've been doing a lot of hiking lately too.

I've been to Europe a bunch of times and and was even an exchange student in Germany when I was in high school. I've been to a lot of the US. Death Valley National Park was overwhelming, I felt tiny. Also, I liked it so much that I went back three more times and still haven't seen all there is to see there. I saw the bioluminescent bay in Vieques, the water glowed, I was amazed. The journey can be the destination, so I like road trips and long distance rail travel. I finally made it to the Pacific Northwest recently. I like to climb up mountains and then go down them. I like to visit the state parks in Massachusetts, and I know a lot about some of them because I used to be a state park ranger.

I like taking photos of things. I grew up in a big old house in a suburb north of Boston where there was always lots of free instant film and free instant cameras (and a photographer father who worked for the company which made the aforementioned film and cameras who would teach his many kids how to use them). I just got a fancy camera and am trying to figure it out.
I’m really good at
Retaining facts and useless information. I kill at trivia.
Also singing when I think no one is around.
The first things people usually notice about me
I don't know. They never tell me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Usually anything by David McCullough, Vonnegut or Sarah Vowell. Um, lots of history stuff that you may or may not know. You can ask me about it.

Movies: Schultze Gets the Blues, Romy & Michele's High School Reunion, Singin' in the Rain, Serial Mom, Polyester, Waiting for Guffman, Hairspray (the one with Divine and Rikki Lake), The Triplets of Belleville, all of Wes Anderson's stuff, all of John Waters's stuff. And then some. I tend not to care for most hollywood blockbusters.

TV: Lately: Baskets, MST3K, Louie, Happy Valley, any of Ryan Murphy's anthologies, Lady Dynamite, those smart HBO comedies, etc.

Music: Elliott Smith, Heatmiser, R.E.M., Sufjan Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, The Mamas and the Papas to name a very few. I listen to anything from easy listening sixties-seventies-eighties stuff to early to late punk. There's also all of that sixties era lounge music I've been listening to lately.

Sometimes I like to bake things like bread and pies and to experiment with the slow cooker.
Six things I could never do without
The ability to go go places I've never been
Swimming back and forth in a pool or across a lake or harbor
Walking somewhere
Eating things
Drinking water and not water
Laughing about things which may or may not be funny ( apparently I tend to do that in my sleep)
Breaking dumb rules.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Existential dread.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm either in watching a movie, baking bread or something or out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't chew gum. It makes my jaw and teeth hurt and tastes gross after a few minutes.
You should message me if
You ever want to take a walk with me or something.
