My self-summary
So about me... I'm a positive, adventurous guy with lots of interesting hobbies and a pretty full and happy life. I've had piles of great experiences so far and look forward to having many more. I like to try new things, so it may look like I’m going through a bucket list, but really, new interests are added all the time; it’s just who I am.

It's important for you to know that I'm polyamorous. I've been happily married for over a decade and have a younger daughter that I adore. I would love to meet other poly people to be friends, lovers and adventurers together. My wife and I don't date as a couple - we have separate partners and don’t usually play together. It's important that everyone get along though, neither of us is interested in segregating our lives into separate parcels. If you'd like to know more about our style of non-monogamy, please ask.

Another important part of my life is my child. If you’re a parent, you know how much of your time this absorbs, so it would be a bonus if you have a child in elementary school or close to it. We love fun family camping and day trips to the aquarium or park together.

One of the things that I really enjoy is to pick up new skills and have new experiences. I suppose I'm a bit dilettantish, but I have found some pretty interesting life-long hobbies.

I love the outdoors and really enjoy camping and hiking. In addition to hockey, I swim/bike/run (did Ironman Canada 2011), ski, golf (on occasion) and am up for pretty much anything athletic.

I'm also really into woodworking and construction and have pretty much renovated my entire house. Last year built a huge detached garage on my property and am currently rebuilding the deck. I find it really relaxing to be working with my hands...

Music is another hobby I pursue with various degrees of vigor. Mainly I focus on guitar, but have been known to play banjo, drums, alto sax, and given enough beer I will even sing.

If you're still reading. then bravo...
What I’m doing with my life
Working, building, exploring, laughing, enjoying, living.
I’m really good at
If I had to pick one thing, it would be that I'm really good at being kinda good at a whole lot of stuff. I'm really a jack of all trades and master of none.

Currently trying to get better on guitar. Not really good yet...
The first things people usually notice about me
I forgot to shave this morning.

I hate shaving, but I also don't like beards - they're itchy and scratchy. It's a conundrum.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music: all over the map. I enjoy pretty much everything but death metal and twangy misogynistic new country. I've recently been on a Slash/G 'n' R kick as I'm learning a bunch of their tunes on guitar.

Books: sadly I don't read as much as I used to. I generally lean towards sci-fi and fantasy but get into all sorts of stuff. I finished Seveneves and The Martian recently - both were fantastic! Currently plowing my way through Neal Stevenson's Baroque Cycle which is a bit of a tome. The unabridged version of The Stand may be my favourite book ever.

Movies: I'll watch anything. Faves include ones like Shawshank Redemption, Children of Men, Mr and Mrs Smith, Princess Bride, Memento, the original Star Wars trilogy , LOTR and geez I dunno there are so many... I have a weakness for bad 80's action flicks too - they were were so bad they were good. Just saw Arrival - it was fantastic.

TV: I really like Game of Thrones, Archer, Sense8, House of Cards, Jessica Jones. Finally watched Breaking Bad this spring/summer and was very impressed. I tend to lean more towards movies and less towards serial shows and don't watch network TV at all. Westworld is occupying my thoughts.

Food: Favorite? Probably Southern style barbecue. If I had to pick one dish, it would be Memphis Blues brisket. Sadly, industrial meat production has a horrible impact on the planet though and I'm trying to shift to a more vegetarian style diet.
Six things I could never do without
Something to make music with. Luckily I can whistle.
Tools. If I had to pick one, it would be a hammer.
Coffee. Sad but true.
A towel. Slides at the park are no fun when they're wet.
Math. Five rounds up to six, right?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My kid - making sure she has what she needs (not necessarily what she _wants_)
My latest hobby - I'm back onto guitar.
Social issues, how can we make this world a better place.
Technology - I'm fascinated by where tech is going to go in the near future. Can't wait for my self-driving car.
On a typical Friday night I am
So random. Recent Fridays included:
- watching a band at the Commodore
- playing music really loudly at a studio
- house party for Halloween
- viewing a movie with my kid and eating real home-made popcorn

Usually Fridays are a slower evening to wind down from the week. Saturdays are more my going-out night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I read my kid stories at bedtime, I do ALL the voices. With accents. Horrible, terrible accents. Think Mike Myers in So I Married An Axe Murderer.
You should message me if
You're open/not-vigorously-opposed to polyamory and are interested in a combination of fun adventures and caring relationship. I'm interested in relationships ranging from fairly casual to long term.
