Besides literature, I am deeply interested in theatre and world cinema, and I have enjoyed doing workshops on drama, acting and cinema both in India and Canada. I also teach courses on performance and film studies, which I really enjoy. Yes, I do spend loads of time at the TIFF and Stratford, but I am not one of those academics who are confined to the classics, since I am equally interested in mainstream/popular art – all kinds of music and films from ‘Bollywood’ to Hollywood.
Running is my favourite sport. I used to be a full-time long distance runner during my school/college days in India. The plan (my idealism) was to win the elusive Olympic gold for India in track and field. (Two Indian athletes have lost the Olympic medal by 1/100 of a second). However, my Don Quixote-coach made me (Sancho Panza) run so much that instead of an Olympic medal I ended up with Achilles heels! But I still go for a run all the time.
As a freelance journalist, I have written on films and sports for newspapers, Britannica etc. I'm passionate about my career but I definitely make time for relaxing as well.
I am looking for someone who is lively, fun, passionate about her work. Someone who will effortlessly drink a few litres of coffee with me, and happily pretend to smile and look interested when I explain why Shakespeare hated dogs more than cats! (not lying).
My nephews (they are obviously not "things")
