My self-summary
I am a professor at a university in Toronto. I never planned to be professor, but somehow it happened. I was supposed to take care of our family business in New Delhi, but I got lured by Dostoevysky, Shakespeare and Co. and ended up doing a Masters and an M.Phil (English) both from Delhi University. I chose to come to Canada for my PhD in 2001, published a book on European travel narratives, and I have been teaching in Toronto for over 10 years now.

Besides Literature, I am deeply interested in theatre and world cinema, and I have enjoyed doing workshops on drama and cinema both in India and Canada. I also teach courses on performance and film studies, which I really enjoy. Yes, I do spend loads of time at the TIFF and Stratford, but I am not one of those elitist academics who are confined to the classics, since I am equally interested in mainstream/popular arts – all kinds of music and films from ‘Bollywood’ to Hollywood. I also used to be a full time runner during my school/college days in New Delhi, and I still love to go for a jog all the time. As a freelance journalist, I have written on films and sports for newspapers, Britannica etc.

I am looking for someone who is fun, and looking for a long term relationship. Someone who will effortlessly drink a few litres of coffee with me, and happily pretend to smile and look interested when I make nonsensical connections between Shakespeare and hmmmm……
