My self-summary
My name's Mike. I'm a nerd, an entrepreneur, and a music lover. I have entirely too many hobbies. I bounce between total hermit and rampant extrovert on a whim, and if I'm not at home gaming or on adventures with my girlfriend (I'm polyamorous), I'm probably at a coffee shop somewhere working on a pet project.

I'm always open to talking to new people and meeting new friends, especially if we have a lot of the same interests. It's hard to find that in the area sometimes. What that means, honestly... is I really would love to have more nerdy people in my life. Let's hang out and talk about fantasy worlds and obscure hobbies for hours.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an IT/graphic/web freelancer, and during the day I work as an office manager. I stay busy.

I ran a YouTube gaming channel for quite some time that got fairly popular, but had since stopped it. I'm looking to get back into streaming and YouTube again shortly. I still show some of that stuff off, even though I'm not in it anymore.

If I'm out of work and not being a hermit, I'll head out and chat it up every now and then at Old Soul Brewery. It's kind of my place; it's amazing there.
I’m really good at
* Web design+dev/IT/sysops. Been doing it either for firms or myself for more than a decade.

* Learning too many things, taking on too many fun projects, and then managing them to a ridiculous extent because even if I had 48 hours in a day I don't think I could do everything I want.

* Musical stuff. Playlist curation, singing, percussion, acting/being in muscials, making a playlist for everything. Seriously. **Everything.**
The first things people usually notice about me
If you're meeting me while I'm out? Probably that I'm talking to everyone. The word 'stranger' really isn't a concept to me, at least, in a social setting.

My hair is pretty damn long and my beard is scruffy, so it's probably that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There is WAY too much to put here, so here's what I've been watching/reading/listening to/eating lately. These are in no particular order and are by no means an exhaustive list.

Books: Anything in the worlds of Terre d'Ange, Middle-Earth, Ile-Rien, or Shannara. Also: Only Revolutions, Eats, Shoots & Leaves, The Element of Fire, House of Leaves, American Gods, Year of the Black Rainbow, Kitchen Confidential, Jam, Ready Player One, anything in The Amory Wars series, Saga, Sunstone (NSFW!), Sex Criminals, Rat Queens, The Wicked & The Divine, etc.

Music: This is a really big one, and it spans a lot of genres, but here's what I'm listening to lately... Coheed & Cambria, Kimbra, The Decemberists, Bjork, The New Pornographers, Caravan Palace, Rush, Kaki King, The Mars Volta, Sleigh Bells, TL&Rx, Murs, POS, Childish Gambino, The Mountain Goats, of Montreal, Atmosphere, Banks, Sunna, Blood Brothers, Scissor Sisters, The Darkness, The Deafening, Elsiane, Iration, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Matthew Good, Noe Venable, Got A Girl, She & Him, Grabbitz, Pegboard Nerds, Knife Party, she, Krewella, Savoy, Slime Girls, Slushii, Veela, TWRP, Letherette, Bassnectar, BT, Ben Briggs, The Protomen, Rocket Ship Resort, The Pillows, The Seatbelts/Yoko Kanno, 4MINUTE/HyunA, SNSD, I Fight Dragons, Bit Brigade, Metroid Metal, anything Gamechops, Ken Ashcorp, MDK, etc. etc. ad infinitum.

Movies: I'm actually not big into TV and movies, but I have a few... Princess Mononoke (or anything Miyazaki,) anything Marvel, Moulin Rouge!, The Illusionist, Hanna, I Heart Huckabees, My Blueberry Nights, Inception, Runaway Jury, Fringe, Dollhouse, Agents of SHIELD, Firefly, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Game of Thrones. I also like a ton of anime: FLCL, Elfen Lied, Excel Saga, Panty & Stocking, GitS:SAC, etc.
Six things I could never do without
Music. Sex. Coffee. Good company. Stress relief in the form of games or books. My laptop.

Probably in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The next time I get to enjoy any of the above six things, and how to better put myself in a position to enjoy those things more frequently/with more ease. (tl;dr, I need a better answer for this question!)
On a typical Friday night I am
If I don't have plans during the weekend, I'm either gaming or at home working on one of my WAY too many pet projects.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm pretty much an open book, so ask me anything. Some really weird things:

* I've done some REALLY nerdy stuff in my life. For instance, I sometimes play DDR in tournaments for money, and travel way too far to do so. Didn't win any of the big ones, but won some small ones.
* I've made and released some electronic/chiptune music online for a few different reasons. One of my tracks made it into a small little indie game; I'm pretty proud of that.
You should message me if
If any of this interests you, really. Again, I have no true expectations from OKC, and I'm just looking to meet amazing people, no matter the role they end up taking in my life. Hope to hear from you!
