My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.
Ok now for real...
Came back to Chicago in 2012. I grew up here in a big Italian family (even the Irish side is Italian). Spent 13 years in the Marine Corps living all over the country. Still trying to figure out a way to get back to SoCal though.
I'm focused, driven, and goal-oriented with a positive outlook on life. Can be a homebody at times (I love my apartment, give me a break!), but enjoy being active and outside as well. Love to travel and experience new cultures and people. I consider myself to be a caring, kind, and genuine person with a goofy sense of humor. Hopeless romantic still waiting to be swept off my feet. Prefer a slow dance over a sleepover. Hope to have a family one day, but for now a date would be nice.
Still trying to find my way as a civilian. I'm able to go two and a half weeks without a haircut and 6 days without shaving which is a personal record for me. It's not as easy as you think! Regardless of my path, I'm always looking to learn, grow, achieve.
Update Dec '14: haircuts every 10 days. I've regressed. Back in the USMC reserves so at least I have an excuse. Working in safety at United Airlines and loving it!
I also know my way around a cockpit.
Most recently read The Phrophet by Kahlil Gibran and The Velvet Rage by Alan Downs.
Movies: Top Gun (It's a prerequisite for my career). Guilty pleasure: Sister Act and Sister Act 2 (oh God did I really just admit that?).
4) iPhone (I know, I know)
5) A kitchen
I'm big on personal growth. I'm always thinking about what I want to achieve next in life. The Marine Corps always made that pretty easy. Now that I'm the captain of my own ship I'm having a harder time figuring that out. Chances are, the next step will have something to do with aircraft or San Diego. Hopefully both!
