My self-summary
My name is Gabriel. I've lived in Philadelphia for almost 4 years. Before that, I went to college in Connecticut and majored in English and classical guitar. At various times in the past twenty-six years, I have aspired to be a truck driver, geneticist, therapist, nanotechnological engineer, lawyer, musician, composer, novelist, and a fighter pilot. I chose English professor, so, if you do any of those other things, let me know how they could've turned out.

My most recent trip was to Vietnam in December, the last museum I went to was the Barnes, restaurant was Sbaraga, and I got rained on in that thunderstorm a few nights ago.

Looking forward to meeting you.

(I'm also flushed with victory as I write this because I just trounced my neighbor at Call of Duty despite never playing video games YEAH TAKE THAT JIM)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a grad student at Penn writing the first chapter of my thesis on Henry James, art collection, and philosophy for our fine comparative literature department. Though, at this point, I occasionally wonder whether it would just be easier to build a time machine, fly to 1904, contact Henry James and ask him about his metaphors himself, probably over a glass of fine port because hey YOLO
I’m really good at
discovering information which may not actually be information, and I'd be happy to tell you all about that over two old fashioneds that I've made
The first things people usually notice about me
You'll have to guess, or find out.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Sentimental Education
Seven Samurai/Beasts of the Southern Wild/The Intouchables
The Wire and one very special one I will not admit because I'm ashamed of it
M Ward, Percy Sledge, Gustav Mahler, Bob Dylan (the username), and Etta James
And for our purposes Whiskey is going to be a food.

(but if that's impossible then Italian.)
Six things I could never do without
I'd rather not do without a rooftop on one of these erratically 80-degree days, a pen always at hand, the Wu Tang Clan circa 1994, JSTOR, or cavalry charges
I spend a lot of time thinking about
more like hoping that that looming trend of floor-length dresses doesn't gain too much ground
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My computer background is a black and white picture of Einstein and Rabindranath Tagore giving me intense, significant looks. This is for motivation, and also kind of like my ultimate two gay dads psyching me up for every day. I really recommend this technique, so check this out:
You should message me if
you have abundant dark hair and you're going to ruin everything
