My self-summary
I am a high-energy, extroverted guy (ENFP), very "successful" in my boutique law firm, who is ready to have more fun in life after working so hard for so many years. A native Washingtonian, I live in and love the city, but can see myself spending more time traveling - so many places I haven't been and want to see. Politically, make no mistake - I am a diehard liberal Democrat, worked for Obama in the past and support him now. But I do have a streak of radicalism that believes the Democrats are as tainted as the Republicans by the influence of big money. On the personal side, I have a heightened sense of style & design (resulting from my work), and my taste runs to modern/contemporary/eclectic. I have learned not to take myself (and others) too seriously - I tend to see the humor in everything. As famously sung by the Eagles, lighten up while you still can! I count myself among the very blessed on the planet - I've lived a great and privileged life. I spend a lot of time and energy giving back, which is a great joy to me. Going forward, my life would be enhanced with a partner with whom I can learn and grow.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm practicing design law (protecting the aesthetic appearance of consumer and industrial products), and love it. I've recently turned down the volume to make room for other things - to travel, to have fun, and spend my life energy in ways other than making money. As I grow older, I find satisfaction in being able to understand other perspectives - not being rigid in my views. I enjoy the usual stuff - ballet, theater, live music of almost any variety, concerts, movies, gourmet food (dare I say sunsets on the beach?) and I love to dance. Culturally, I was raised Jewish, and am an active, long-time member of a humanist congregation - the Washington Ethical Society. I'm also a member of a renegade lawyers' group (Project for Integrating Spirituality, Law & Politics) that is trying to save the world in our own way. Giving back is a great joy. I politically support the Occupy movement (such that it is) even though I'm part of the 1% problem group. A dielectic, if you will.
I’m really good at
Kissing. Being creative. Making people laugh. Eating out. Dancing. Getting things done. Having mid-life crises. Being modest (ha). Noticing details. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound.
The first things people usually notice about me
My sense of humor. My willingness to listen & talk. My sense of humor. My sweet nature. My sense of humor. My tendency to be repetitive. My sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love live music, especially dance venues where you can feel it and move.
MOVIES: Groundhog Day, Bulworth, Jerry McGuire, The Big Lebowski, The Graduate, Fight Club, Love Actually, anything by Woody Allen...
SHOWS: Annie, Billy Elliot (yes, I like musicals), most (but not all) Woolly Mammoth stuff
MUSIC: I have a penchant for live music of any kind, especially the blues. I have wide ranging taste: Adele, Black Eyed Peas, Pink, Queen, Train, Bee Gees, Bonnie Raitt, John Lennon, the Black Orchids, BB King, Norah Jones ... on and on
FOOD: anything Asian, Ray's steak, grilled fish, Pete's Apizza, ice cream
BOOKS: Sunday NYT, New York mag (Frank Rich!), the Steve Jobs thing, Pat Conroy, Chabon's Kavalier & Clay, Haddon's Curious Incident - and more recently The Paying Guests
TV: hooked on House of Cards, Downton Abbey, I get all of my news from Jon Stewart - so sad that he's stepping down...
The six things I could never do without
MY: iPhone, convertible, dear friends Missy in Silver Spring and Maria in Mexico City, offspring, curiosity, and... having to think of the six things I could never do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The six things I could never do without.

Also I spend a lot of time thinking about how to think less and feel more.
On a typical Friday night I am
Needing to chill with a friend, having a great meal (can be as simple as sliders at Matchbox) and/or enjoying a streaming Netflix movie at home, or catching the latest 4-star flick.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I prefer romantic comedies over action thrillers.
You should message me if
You've LOL at least 3 times (ok, twice) while reading my profile, you want to have fun, and let things happen, or not, and/or are just a little crazy, quirky and/or eclectic. Diehard romantics encouraged, really smart women especially encouraged. Diehard Republicans need not reply!
