My self-summary
I'm a nice person who thinks it's more important to be silly and kind than cool. Maybe its cuz I am kind of a dork and have learned to embrace it. Think the Aubrey Plaza character (April) from Parks and Recreation but sweeter, not as cold! Or Daria from the 90's but if she had actually grown up and found happiness. That's me. Loyal, loving, sarcastic, and smart. I'm a girlie girl but I have a playful and sometimes dirty sense of humor.
What I’m doing with my life
I fell in love with Austin for a billion reasons but it basically comes down to friendly people, warm weather, a creative, happy, chill atmosphere, and a nice blend of hip, hippie, and Latin culture. If Austin had a beach (and Texas had better politics) it would be paradise!

I like to live a happy balanced life. Some days I feel like working on art projects and fixing up my apartment, and some weeks I'm at a show every night, especially Stubbs, Mohawk, Emos, etc. I used to travel a lot for work, sometimes for weeks at a time, so I have learned how to be flexible and manage my free time and responsibilities. I really enjoy my hobbies when I can do them and sometimes I prefer to just chill. I like chillin with friends, chillin alone, or just opening the Chronicle to see what's happening. I have no problem finding ways to entertain myself. I would just like to share those fun times with a special someone, which is how I came to this site.
I’m really good at
Other interests include...
Getting lost in the woods
Exploring other countries
Trying to step someplace no one else has, even if its just off the beaten path
Corny shit- old movies, fairy tales, musicals, movies where there is a dance-off at the end that solves some social issue or a teacher gets through to a troubled student against all odds
Trying exotic foods
Tai chi, yoga- wish I did it more! I just tried kickboxing and I think it's gonna be a new hobby.
Frida Kahlo- My favorite Mexican painter ever.
BIKING. I'm not a huge fan of cars. People think its crazy...I say it's resourceful and responsible. Guess how much I spend on gas?

On Travel...
To truly immerse yourself in another culture is one of the greatest experiences you can have.

Travel = learning = understanding.

Coolest thing I've ever done:
Backpacked alone for a week in the Mexican jungle of San Luis Potosi in 2009. And another summer I rapelled down a mountain in Guanajuato- it was the scariest thing I've ever done. Worth it!

For the past 7 years I worked for a study abroad company in Austin. I led groups of high school students on educational trips to Mexico and Costa Rica. My job was awesome but it was time for a change. Now I teach art to kids through a museum and help out at my friend's food trailer. I love my life and don't mind the change of pace.
The first things people usually notice about me
I look like an Olivia. Cuz I am!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Tina Fey- hilarious.
Right wing republican assholes- they test my tolerance
Politics- what a headache
Weed- yes please
Education- the most important thing, ever.
Bodies- beautiful. Every last one of them.
Drugs- natural only for me, you do what you want.
Sleep- glorious!

Any book on the occult, existentialism, eastern religion- philosophy, art, etc. I like books on obscure subjects. I love non-fiction. I have a large collection of books on Mexican Art. I'm kind of obsessed with cookbooks right now though.

Amores Perros, Rocky Horror, Hedwig, Pan's Labyrinth, Life Acquatic, Royal Tenenbaums, Fight Club, Princess Bride, Lost in Translation, Garden State, Donnie Darko, Fear and Loathing, Pulp Fiction, Goodfellas, Eternal Sunshine, Amelie, Edward Scissorhands, Big Lebowski, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Anything culty, anything 80's or 90's. I have a soft spot for goofy movies that are done well like 40 Year Old Virgin and Wanderlust. The good news is I love movies of all genres.

I don't watch it cuz commercials suck. But I do enjoy watching TV online, like Broad City, GOT, Workaholics, Adventuretime, 30 Rock, Parks & Rec, Portlandia, Community, Girls, and my all time favorite, Strangers with Candy. Amy Sedaris is a comedic genius.

I can get into pretty much any kind of music, except I don't love country unless it's old school Johnny Cash or like blue grassy/ folky country.

Some examples:

Outkast, Big Boi, The Roots, Manu Chao, Cafe Tacuba, Orishas, Marley, Beatles, Temper Trap, Yeasayer, Phoenix, Passion Pit, Postal Service/ Death Cab/ Broken Social Scene, Gogol Bordello, Modest Mouse, Arcade Fire, Fugees, The XX, Dirty Projectors, Local Natives, Lorde, Grimes, The Knife, Of Monsters and Men, Metric, Naked and Famous, Santigold, MIA, Muse, Flaming Lips, Empire of the Sun, Erykah Badu, Gotan Project, Janis Joplin and all 60's and 70's music, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell- all 80's music, all Latin music especially Salsa from the 70's like Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe.
Six things I could never do without
- Friends. I'm lucky to have great ones!
- My bike. Just cuz I have pink handlebars doesn't mean I'm not a badass.
- Eating salsa and dancing salsa.
- Everything burrito. I love you, everything burrito.
- Honey. I drink a lot of tea. I just really like tea.
- iPhone.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"Have you ever transcended space and time?"

"Yes. No. Uh, time, not space... No, I don't know what you're talking about."

"If you never get lost, you can never get found."

What it means to be an animal in human clothing...
On a typical Friday night I am
I do like to go out, but I'm more likely to be found sitting in a backyard hammock with friends than dancing on tables in bars. I'm not a big drinker so I go to the bars with the best food carts found outside of them (east side kings is one of my favorites). I often end up at a bar after leaving a really great live show, just cuz I don't want the night to end. My friends like to drink and I like the company- I don't have to be wasted to have fun.

My favorite places to go- the Alamo (South) of course, the Whipin, the East side, and I live south so anywhere south. I have a mild obsession and deep appreciation for Latin culture- hence I can salsa dance your butt off, speak fluent Spanish, and devour a plate of tacos like no other. If you like relaxed weekends of tokin n hittin up a taco cart, taking a walk or hitting up some live music, I'm there. My ideal weekend includes a concert or festival, hiking/swimming/ working up a good sweat, and cooking delicious meals, getting barbecue or trying a new food cart. Sometimes I want to do it all- but as I've gotten older I've gotten better about this, and now I give myself permission to do nothing once and a while, sleep in on a weekend and miss the farmers market and anything else before noon, make eggs, and go back to sleep. It's super lazy and it feels great. Plus I make great eggs! (and like to share!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Isn't being on a dating site embarrassing enough?
