My self-summary
I am, in no particular order, a burgeoning literary scholar, political lefty, fan of (mostly loud and aggressive) music and comic books, and occasional writer of fiction, poems, and songs. I appreciate a wide range of art, literature, and pop culture, often to the point of giddy enthusiasm.

Things I like doing: going to concerts, movies, plays, and art exhibitions; drinking coffee, beer, wine, or whiskey; reading aloud, listening to music, playing with pets, running (when I can summon the necessary motivation), and travelling to unfamiliar places.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently writing my dissertation. It would be pretty easy to slip out of social interaction, emerging only to write in coffee shops and research in rare book rooms. But I'd rather not go that route. Hence, I have created this account in the hopes of finding someone with whom I can go do fun things.
I’m really good at
I like to think I'm pretty good at writing and teaching, since those are the things I do professionally. I sing in a band and am, if nothing else, entertaining. I'm not exactly good at dancing, but like it anyway.
The first things people usually notice about me
They haven't told me. If you ever meet me, you can let me know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
These lists could get really long, so I will try to restrain myself.

Authors: William Blake, Percy Shelley, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Phillip K. Dick, Thomas Pynchon, Cormac McCarthy, Kurt Vonnegut, Alan Moore, and Grant Morrison

Movies: The Maltese Falcon, Citizen Kane, Blade Runner, Dr. Strangelove, Pulp Fiction, Dawn of the Dead, and The Dark Knight

TV shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and The Venture Bros.

Music: Faith No More, Opeth, Morbid Angel, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Emperor, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Clash, Napalm Death, Clutch, Dead Kennedys, Leonard Cohen, Black Flag, Julie Christmas, and Justin Timberlake
Six things I could never do without
As long as I have food, water, and shelter, I'd probably manage to survive. I own a lot of books and music, though, and I'd really rather not lose them. My cat's okay, too.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Lately, nineteenth-century poetry, radicalism, and publishing. I fit in other stuff, though.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends, going to a concert, or staying in and reading with a glass of whiskey.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I didn't relish filling this out.
You should message me if
you are a pleasant and intelligent person and think you might enjoy communicating with me. You may be right.
