My self-summary
Well, uh, let's see...I may very well be the world's only practicing non-Catholic, in that I attend mass weekly, but reject many of the core dogma of the church, do not accept the rite of Communion, and haven't been to confession since I was a teenager. I could probably create a clever rationalization for that, but it's mainly due to moral cowardice. I'm a capital-L Libertarian and serious enough about it that I've actually done a fair amount of writing and speaking on the subject.

What else? I'm a decent playwright with the bad reviews to prove it; I'm half-Chinese, half-white; I'm a high-school dropout with a GED and yes, I'm happy with that decision; and I have an autonomic disorder which severely limits my activity, although I train hard and possess a remarkable degree of mobility, considering. How's that to start with?

I am inquisitive, self-absorbed, and loquacious
What I’m doing with my life
I work in the theatre, and I dabble in pretty much everything -- but first and foremost I consider myself a writer, and everything else I do (directing, acting) is an extension of that. I love my work; lord knows I'd be a fool to do it for the money.
I’m really good at
Well, playwriting, I hope, since that's my profession. I've also done some street and slam poetry, as well as song lyrics for musicals and rock bands. I'm a mime, believe it or not, and I've done everything from white-face street mime to full-length slapstick productions. I have some limited background in gymnastics, dance, and various martial arts.
The first things people usually notice about me
Glasses. And a predilection for black. Look under "emo kid" in the encyclopedia and you'll find a picture of my identical twin. I'm a short, stocky Chinese dude, and in Minnesota that's sufficient to make me a novelty.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Entertainment is my business, so my tastes are eclectic and all over the map -- I love Victorian poetry, speculative fiction, superhero comics, and European folklore. I think that Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival is the supreme achievement of Western literature, and that Kyle Rayner is the coolest Green Lantern; I can rattle off Tennyson by heart and am ashamed to admit that I have a secret collection of Dragonlance novels I more or less failed to outgrow.

When it comes to movies, well, lately I've been on a German expressionism kick, and kung-fu DVDs take up half my shelf. I'm obsessed with classic comedians from Groucho Marx to Woody Allen. As for music, sheesh, Wagnerian opera, big-band jazz, Pink Floyd and Steppenwolf...

...I guess it boils down to the fact that I've never really drawn a distinction between so-called "high art" and "low art". I'm equally content wading through James Joyce or Neil Gaiman. If it entertains me, I'm happy.
Six things I could never do without
My family, my friends, my laptop, my library, my cell phone, and my car.
On a typical Friday night I am
There's no such thing as a typical Friday night. I'm usually working on a number of different projects, all of which have sporadic schedules. I have no social life; occasionally a friend will drag me out to a movie or a bar. I'm also a drama critic, so if I'm lucky I'm seeing good theatre. Otherwise, I'm just as likely to be curled up with a good book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
A Catholic upbringing, focused on the deification of pain (suffering=absolution=apotheosis), has left me with some unpleasantly masochistic tendencies.
You should message me if
You find me remotely tolerable. I'm a wretchedly lonely man.
