My self-summary
I'm a pretty lucky guy: I co-founded a law firm and actually turned a profit • I own my own home • I come from a loving family and have made lifelong friends • I own a sweet dog named after a famous Star Wars character • I've had leadership positions in local community organizations • I ran for public office and, well, didn't win but did very well considering it was the first time • [and] I can sing, dance, and write. Yes, I'm Ke$ha minus the alcohol poisoning.

Of course, one thing would round it all out. Finding someone to share it with. Dude, I've seen 35 states, and I'd really like someone special with whom to see the *other* 15. Someone who can raise my game, teach me a few things, and who can appreciate what I have to offer.

Me? I'm ambitious, goal-oriented, and like dogs, whiskey, and bakeries. I'd rather have a few close friends than a gazillion "friends" I've only met for 30 seconds. I'm a quality over quantity kinda guy. Can you handle this?
What I’m doing with my life
In the words of June Carter, "I'm just trying to matter." I'm a part-time legislative aide and lawyer working on building a new practice in the neighborhood, which is an ongoing adventure.
I’m really good at
Remembering. I seem to have a knack for remembering all kinds of inane stories from 7th grade of who said what to whom and all the gossip. I'm a good listener, writer, and not-such-a-bad cook. I'm also a damn good MC and dabble as a singer/songwriter.
The first things people usually notice about me
This has changed over time: It used to be my laugh ... then it was my hands (I have two of them!) ... then my best friend told me that I "sit down uniquely" (not sure what that means). So, the jury is out. We'll have to meet, and you'll have to tell me the first things you notice! Then, I'll come back and post! Deal?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Improbably Scholars, 1984, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Election by Tom Perrotta, The Plague.

MOVIES: The Empire Strikes Back, Shawshank Redemption, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

MUSIC: How about this? The 10 albums I purchased most recently were: (1) Beck "Guero"; (2) Jay-Z "American Gangster";
(3) P!nk "Funhouse"; (4) Band of Horses "Infinite Arms"; (5) Erykah Badu "New Amerykah Part One"; (6) Erykah Badu "Baduism"; (7) R.E.M. "Murmur"; (8) Phoenix "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix"; (9) Weezer "The Red Album"; and (10) Joni Mitchell "Blue."

FOOD: Cuban, Indian, Thai, Italian ... I'm a good eater :)

TV: I am head over heels in love with Orange is the New Black and Parks & Recreation (it's really a tie I'd say for favorite show); as well as classics like Dallas; The Mary Tyler Moore Show; Cheers; the Cosby Show; and my all-time favorite: Roseanne!
Six things I could never do without
In no particular order: (1) Roseanne (my favorite TV show); (2) my committee of 3 bestest friends; (3) good pizza; (4) love; (5) passion (about something); and (6) clean underwear (gotta draw a line somewhere!).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I'm going to take over the world. And brainstorming song lyrics.
On a typical Friday night I am
There ain't nothing typical about my Friday nights. Tomorrow night (which happens to be a Friday) I'm going to a bar association committee meeting (over drinks and pizza, but still). Last Friday night I went to a parks association meeting (over drinks, dinner, and dessert). I guess there's a theme ...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There just might come a time when I suggest we have sexual relations listening to Sade's "Lovers Rock." Just go with it. It'll be good practice for when I suggest we have sexual relations to Aaliyah's "Rock the Boat."
You should message me if
You're interested in --- and willing to make time for --- something with long-term potential. Monagamy isn't necessarily the be all/end all, but my goal is not an "open relationship." I'm glad that works for some couples, but my default is an exclusive partnership. Any exceptions should be discussed openly in advance, agreed upon, and rare, if ever. Deal? Deal.

Now that that's out of the way! I'm looking for a guy who's patient, kind, with a good head on his shoulders. A good communicator, who doesn't hate "the game" yet still chooses to play it. Someone with goals and ambitions or at least some semblance of a plan. Cute helps too. Nice teeth and hands go a long way. Nice legs turn me on. So does the saxophone, incidentally.
