My self-summary
I moved here in July 2008 from Arizona but am a native of Boston. Relocating here with my initially brought me closer to two sons who were at the time living in Vermont but they've since moved to the midwest and I feel like I feel like I'm trapped here to some degree.

Otherwise, I'm fairly geeky about some things and kinda' clueless about others. I like to think of myself as more of a clear canvass than someone who is set in his ways, but I'll admit to the occasional bouts of regression.

I often wonder about why I support the crass commercialism that is American society. Like why would Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" sell a car website?

There used to be a section at the top to describe yourself in 3 words and it was: spatial, fun-loving, and cuddlemonsterous.

I have 2 sons who I only see a few times a year...they live halfway across the country but are pretty good kids.
What I’m doing with my life
Kind of glad the summer's mostly over. Feeling as though Fall is my favorite time of the year.
I’m really good at
Remembering trivial information, listening. Putting my foot in my mouth in opportune situations. Underpromising and overdelivering.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smooth skin.

Well, honestly, I have alopecia universalis so if bigfoot turns you on, I'm probably not your guy. I'm shy at first, but usually warm up pretty quickly once I know a thing or two about those around me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Read: mostly mysteries and comic thrillers...Michael Connelly, Robert Parker, Jonathan Kellerman, Donald Westlake, Robert Crais, T Jefferson Parker, Carl Hiaasen, Tim Dorsey, Richard Price. Occasionally the well-received best-seller or hipster tome and there's always an unread stack of New Yorkers around my apartment.

Watch: quality non-dreckish movies--anything with Coen, Apatow, Scorsese and Anderson (Paul Thomas or Wes) would usually get my attention. It's often difficult for me to jump on a movie bandwagon--for example, never seen Titanic, LotR or Matrix movies.

Listen: I worked for a record company during the 90s after spending my youth as what I'll term a Hardcore. The music biz exposed me to a lot of different things, nowadays I'm open to most anything but country and top 40...leaning most towards indie rock. All-time faves: Jesus Lizard, Superchunk (first 3 albums), Fugazi, Polvo, Mudhoney, Buzzcocks, Dag Nasty, the Who, Born Against. Lately I've been alternating between random underground hip hop mixtapes and one-man black metal.

Eat: I'm equally satisfied with a fine meal in a restaurant or something home-cooked...Any kind of Asian, especially sushi, Vietnamese, Dim Sum. Did I say I love Vietnamese? Hell, I've been known to drive to a random city and type the word pho into my gps.
Six things I could never do without
The kindness of strangers
My quick wit
Willy Wonka candy
A bandana
GPS (sadly)
Cheesy music, whether it be the Archies or Agnostic Front
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Past, present, future--and the more obscure tenses sometimes, too--I can conjugate a mean verb. And ways to prevent people from watching American Idol.
On a typical Friday night I am
I like finding random places for happy hour, karaoke, movies, live music. Hopefully spending it with someone else, but that's not always the case.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
What I put about people noticing first is pretty private. I tend to open up pretty quick, though, once I know a thing or three about you.
You should message me if
You made it this far and any of the following appeals to you: a weekend day in NYC, random road trips, good ethnic food, leisurely bike rides of up to 50 miles on the area's rail-trails, finding someone's company to enjoy. You're not offended by a jew who is looking for someone without a shellfish allergy.
