My self-summary
I love conversation and speculation about topics from the serious to the wacky. I'm definitely passionate about my politics, which is why my day job is working to build a more just and sustainable future.

I'm also an aspiring science fiction and fantasy writer, currently shopping around short stories and developing a novel.

I enjoy being around funny, intelligent people who have an appreciation for quirky humor and cult films. Whether it's about history, science, or cuisine, I try to learn something new and awesome every day.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at a public relations & political consulting firm which supports progressive and environmental causes. In my spare time, I write novels.
I’m really good at
I have a bottomless supply of weird and surprisingly relevant historical trivia.

I'm equally talented at writing good stories and picking them apart.

I'm also pretty punctual, but I don't expect everyone else to be the same.
The first things people usually notice about me
My bilateral symmetry.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I've never been big on lists. Always so hard to choose.

Books: A Game of Thrones, anything by Terry Pratchett, The Cartoon History of the Universe, Beowulf (yes, Beowulf), Lord of the Rings, various and sundry obscure science fiction and fantasy novels.

Movies: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Iron Man (the first one), The Big Lebowski, Star Wars (the Classic Trilogy), Shaun of the Dead, The Princess Bride. I also like to watch the trashy schlock they show on Mondo Mondays at the Loft..

Shows: Game of Thrones, Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Chuck, The Legend of Korra, Doctor Who, Futurama, Archer, The Venture Bros., Mystery Science Theater 3000, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

Music: I don't actually have really strong opinions on music, but I'm always interested in hearing something new. Big listener of KXCI community radio.

Food: Quality pizza, homemade burritos, frozen yogurt, fresh cut salad, pies (both savory and sweet).
Six things I could never do without
1. Word processors
2. Good friends
3. Dry British wit
4. Science (all of it)
5. The letter 'J'
6. Chocolate
I spend a lot of time thinking about
13th century Mongolian cuisine.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going out for coffee or sharing a pizza with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Despite a general hostility to seafood, I have a surprising weakness for sushi smothered in wasabi.
