My self-summary
I moved to Brooklyn a few months ago...hi! I'm a Californian, but come to you via Melbourne (AU), Boston, and London (UK).

Lefty politically, sometimes writer, lover of coffee and natural wine, occasional baker of banana bread, educator, adventure seeker.

Profile name is an homage to the cleverest tumblr of all, marrying my unironic love of Beyonce and US politics: I can't change it because I have a basic profile we are.
What I’m doing with my life
For work, I'm a program manager at a nonprofit that partners with NYC public schools to improve literacy outcomes for students in underserved areas.

For fun I hang out in Prospect Park, go to yoga, wine/ dine, see music and movies, stroll, in-home dance party, and am always down to attend a good protest.
I’m really good at
-traveling light
-finding good coffee
-making chilli
-writing letters
-knowing/ rapping all the words to "Baby Got Back"
-learning foreign slang
The first things people usually notice about me
Dreamy curls
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Zadie Smith and Caitlin Moran for their beautiful thoughts on London. Elena Ferrante. Michael Pollan. Lucky Peach and Render Food Mag for their cultural critique.

Broad City, Grace & Frankie, House of Cards, AC360, West Wing for life, Kimmy Schmidt (for Titus)

Belle & Sebastian, 60s girl groups forever. Chvrches and Frank Ocean this week. The National for train journeys.

Tasting menus with funky wine pairings, sloppy burritos, avocados for days, specialty coffee...all about consumption of things that are good because they're made with good ingredients (food, wine, coffee, etc).
Six things I could never do without
My iPhone, yoga, cheese, books, my passport, likeminded loved ones
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Social justicey things that keep bleeding hearts up late at night wondering. What I should do with my hair. What my cat is thinking.
On a typical Friday night I am
Imbibing, ideally dancing...not doing enough of that, gabbing with gal pals
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm an open book. AMA.
You should message me if
You like road trips. You're happy with where you are in your life (you have your shit together). You're an ally. Your friends would agree that you're open-minded, generous and funny. You want to marry me for a visa. Just kidding. Sort of. ;)

You can be critical of the status quo and feel really grateful in equal measure.

You think drinking wine in bed is an excellent use of a Tuesday night.

Or, like, any other reason.*

*but you have to make me laugh
