My self-summary
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." Nietzsche

The personal dissolves so easily in the typical....
so in an attempt not to uphold the status quo I suppose, I ought to put some Essential Miscellany [as opposed to Useless Trivia?] about me here...
Should I ever find myself having to choose, I'd probably go for:
'Still' over 'Sparkling',
'Semi' over 'Skimmed',
'The Shipping Forecast' over 'The Weather Forecast',
'Kiting' over 'Flying',
'Carbon Footprint Watching' over 'Shoe Shopping',

'Gig' over 'Club' (most of the time, anyway),
'Wine' over 'Beer',
'Top' over 'Bottom',
'Mac OS' over 'Windows' (edit: I know, I'm a mug for it... your average mac-whore, really),
'Busy' over 'Quiet', [but NOT hectic!]
'Snow' over 'Beach',
'Company' over 'Solitude', [most of the time!]
'Sex' over 'Drugs',
'Fusion' over 'Fragmentation',

'Marmalade' over 'Marmite',
'Magpies' over 'Pigeons',
'Lateral' over 'Vertical',
'Social Interaction' over 'Bystander Apathy',
'Experience' over 'Youth',
'Oil' over 'Acrylics', [though I'm quite partial to Ink, actually!]
'Creativity' over 'Plagiarism',
'Pillow Fights' over 'Tugs of War'
'Oxford' over 'Cambridge',
'Rice' over 'Couscous',
'Herzog' over 'von Trier',
'Comedy' over 'Drama',
'Tolstoy' over 'Dostoevsky' [though both are favourites!]
'Cinema' over 'Movies',
'Nikon' over 'Canon',
'Skateboarding' over 'Fix-Push',
'Pushing-Forward' over 'Holding Back',
'Waking' over 'Sleeping',
'Paddle' over 'Crop',
'The World According to Garp' over 'Forrest Gump',
'Brains' over 'Looks' (the sexiest part of the body is the brain).
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a web-developer, specialising in dynamic web applications and new media, working mostly freelance but do also do short-term/long-term contracts. Also recently started lecturing p/t in IP Law and Creative Commons Licensing and can't quite figure out how to put my (recently acquired) MA in Anthropology and Cultural Politics to good use.
As with everything, you get out what you put in and that suits me. I am ambitious and disciplined enough to get the work and get it done, but I wouldn't consider myself the career girl type. I work to live and never the other way round.
I’m really good at
Thinking laterally and spatially.
Opening cans of worms.
Writing instructables and tutorials for projects, that nobody needs or has asked for.
Waxing lyrical about carnivorous domestic robots and their benefits.
Using big words where diminutive ones would suffice.
Drifting around on Wikipedia for hours on end, insisting this counts as 'productive time'.
Getting side-tracked.
Walking faster than most!
I draw whenever I can - which is pretty much anytime, anywhere.
I love photography, both 35mm and digital [as well as other formats!] My Mamiya C220 and Voigtlander Vito BL get more outings than their digital cousins, these days.
I am great at taking stuff apart, whether the item is broken or not and sussing out how it all works and sometimes even putting it back together afterwards. Wanna see my favourite socket set? ;)
Cracking inappropriate jokes, because 'everybody was thinking it, but was too British to come out with it'.
The first things people usually notice about me
My kickboard... if we meet, you will probably agree.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This used to be my platform for shameless intellectual onanism, but the lists seemed somewhat long, not to mention pretentious.
I suppose I have one highbrow and one lowbrow.

That said, I'm listening to a lot of Urban Voodoo Machine, The Top Shelf Band, System of a Down and Rammstein at the moment.
Six things I could never do without
-> My creativity,
-> Freedom of Speech,
-> The Right to remain silent,
-> The Right to Vote,
->Freedom of Expression [using any medium necessary], and
although I hate to say it -
-> The Internet. For information validation and fact finding (and for free porn, obviously! *did I just say that out loud?!?*)
-> My DMs (I know that's seven, but FACT!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-> At what point, will some NRA spokesperson, or some similarly inclined, quasi-intellectual member of the 'local pseudo-illuminati' in the US attempt to rationalise that schools would be much safer places, if all kids and staff were issued with semi-automatic fire arms (as standard), in order to equip such with the necessary means to defend themselves against 'gun-wielding psychos', whilst mommy and daddy are at work and can't do the defending? That way, any suspicious stranger loitering in the vicinity of any school, could be brought to 'justice' BEFORE they get the chance to even place their index finger on the trigger! GENIUS! Incidentally, I believe P K Dick wrote a book about a similar utopia, no?!? (Please, take this in the spirit, it was intended)
->If I was to spill soap on my trousers, would that render them cleaner or dirtier than they were before?
->Our apocalypse, and where to watch it from!
On a typical Friday night I am
looking to sea and hoping for wind?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am left-handed (but by no means sinister!) and goofy-footed.
I throw like a girl!
You should message me if
-> you're into obscure music, film, sound, thought and/or photography, and
-> you are possibly [hopefully?] also unconventional, creative, intelligent, eloquent, witty, and - most importantly!
-> you have an opinion on whats going on in the world around you/us, and also enjoy the occasional, lively, topical debate. Submissive tendencies sexually would also be advantageous. I am NOT, however, looking for a full-time submissive. I use FL to advertise vacancies for those. :-)
-> you've noticed the subtle allusions to my 'darker' side' in the above.
-> you're mildly irritated by my excessive use of square brackets and/or my apparent lack of attention to detail when it comes to typographic conventions.
-> you're able to converse in full sentences and don't resort to txt spk or l33t on a full-time basis.
The two of us
