If you're on Facebook, I'm Positronic Dave (with a space) on there. I've found Facebook to be an excellent networking tool, and it's a good way to counter suspicions that you might be an axe murderer (that are present on an online dating site), because it shows how you're interconnected with your community. I've made a lot of good connections and friends via OKC, and have described it to my friends as a "flirty Facebook".

I publish the Hidden Hills of Western Massachusetts Map and Hidden-Hills.com, which involves ad sales, design, printing and distribution of 15,000 full color maps each year. Plus the web site.

Here's a video of me a friend of mine made when he visited for the first time in 17 years: youtube.com/watch?v=aYb6Pnks0vg

I am enthusiastic, witty, and resourceful
What I’m doing with my life
Living in my recently purchased, beautiful 1885 brick and marble Victorian. I've fixed it up and moved my business headquarters into it. (I also used have offices in Northampton and before that in Amherst.)

This is part of my overall project to help revive the once thriving city of Holyoke Massachusetts. Once the "Queen of the Industrial Cities" Holyoke has fallen on hard times but is steadily reviving, thanks in part to the fact that it's the only place you can get a decent house for less than $200,000 - often MUCH less. For people used to a REAL scary city, Holyoke is very calm, and 100+ year old gorgeous architecture abounds.

Working on improving my business and growing it and making it thrive. We just passed 23 years as a continuously operating retail business and we have been growing rapidly recently. We're very good at organic search engine optimization now, and starting to cash in on that skill in a big way.

Working on improving the general state of human culture and resource politics as best I can. There is so much to do, and so many people working really hard to screw things up even worse, that it's a tough time to be in the progressive revolution business, but try we must, because things are not going to get any better if we just sit and watch. I've been reading a review copy of Frances Moore Lappe's new book "Eco-Mind", and it really articulates well a lot of ideas I've been working with over the past decades. I'm going to enjoy writing this review once I'm done. Frances is awesome.
I’m really good at
Frisbee, cooking, massage, typesetting, art direction, search engine optimization, event promotion, logical deconstruction, persuasive rhetoric, organizing projects, selling intrinsically good ideas, recruiting talent, finding a good parking spot, getting good concert tickets, remembering lyrics, detecting bullshit, being tenacious, justifying my existence, breathing through my ears
The first things people usually notice about me
The shimmering aura... ;-) seriously it's probably my long brown hair and blue-grey-green eyes. (unless they meet me when I'm in the middle of talking or over the phone, in which case it would probably be my voice or manner of speaking.)

The six things I could never do without
Intelligent foreign policy, a sane approach to drug regulation and addiction treatment, clean air and water, appropriate action to prevent global warming, robust civil liberties, and confidence that a wise leader who is not a rapture-seeking a-hole is the one who holds the thermonuclear trigger in his hands.

At least I've got one of them now...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The six things I could never do without, and my business...
On a typical Friday night I am
Out to see live music, or some other kind of activity, if I can find something good to go to.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That if I really said something outrageous here it would be completely fabricated. If it was really outrageous, I'd never say it here.
You should message me if
You're interested in political or business interaction, or live in Holyoke and are working on the city's revival. I'm open to suggestions...
