My self-summary
Under Construction
Full Disclosure: I'm much more heady and full on in prose than in person. Read what follows, or don't, but I'm really a chill, go with the flow, inveterate nice guy. Just not in the writing part of my brain.
I put some light HTML in here at some point but the app filters it out. Just for you nerdy completionists out there.
Actually this profile is the worst, just read my questions with explanations.
What I’m doing with my life
Microbiology Research. Publish or Perish. Science.
Building an immunogenic, avirulent strain of Staph. Mostly for vaccine purposes, but if that doesn't work then I guess just to say I did. Spoiler Alert: It didn't, but that's ok, headed back to grad school in the fall for something way cooler.

Live shows, quality cinema, known to frequent a sports bar from time to time. Beer aficionado expanding my palette for funky whisky drinks. Searching for the perfect Dark & Stormy and a generous 10 dollar pour of Bookers. Indulging foodie tendencies but can also enjoy the simple things.
I’m really good at
Figuring things out
Playing devil's advocate (recently argued Monsanto is a force for the betterment of humanity. So almost literally the devil.)
Listening, unless there is something stuck in my head, then I am good at interrupting with non sequiturs
Giving people the benefit of the doubt
Putting myself in other people's shoes (not in a foot fetishy sort of way)
Eschewing false premises
Not taking myself 2 seriously
The first things people usually notice about me
Hipsterish (groan) Indian Geek
INTJ/INFJ but can pull off a pretty good facsimile of normal
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Infinite Jest, Labyrinths, No Exit, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, A Confederacy of Dunces, Howl, Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality, Brave New World, Catch-22 (yes high school but come on it was that good, BNW was actually recent and I am unapologetic)
Movies(Directors): Asghar Farhadi, Coen Brothers, Paul Thomas Anderson, Scorsese, Kurosawa, Malick, Almodovar, Kubrick, Tarantino, Abdelatif Kechiche, David Fincher, Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steve McQueen, Judd Apatow productions
Movies(Fave Randos): The Apartment, Exit Through The Gift Shop, The Hurt Locker, Her, Adaptation, Four Lions, Oldboy, The Lives of Others, Trainspotting, City of God, Moon, Viridiana, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Warrior, Beginners, Tesis, Fear of A Black Hat, good docs

Teach me how to veggie (I've had the Zucchini Lasagna and Corn Tamales at Pure, they're delicious, but come on at least
put a bird on it).

Teams: Knicks, Giants, Yankees, Blueshirts (Tyson Chandler and Henrik Lundqvist are my favorite athletes in terms of talent as well as general sexiness)
Word: Inchoate (bonus points if you can't pronounce it, the only reason I'm not still doing it wrong is John Hodgman... but it has such a great mouthfeel when you say it right. inc. owe it; in coat; ink oat)
Six things I could never do without
Music, Movies, & Comedy (you saw those lists right? There's more)
Sport (Sports nerd not in the spit out Derrek Jeter's rookie batting avg kind of way, as in able to tell you why WOBA and WP are better metrics than BA and PER. Also sometimes in the yells at the TV kind of way. I do have a football and a baseball mitt that I'll break out from time to time, and I rock an ugly but relatively high percentage bank shot on the hardwood.)
Conversation (Good banter is a requisite)
Rap Genius & Song Meanings (rap genius is the very model of a modern musical criticism and discussion site, I wish there was an equivalent for hipster music)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Future (Post Techno Singularity)
The primacy of experience
Optogenetics and Neuro stuff
Evolution/Cosmology/Quantum Mechanics and are these all different incarnations of the same thing?
Learning/ The importance of acquiring ideas (tools) over information (facts)
Politics when I feel like getting frustrated
Economics when I want to feel productive (theoretically)
What good concerts are coming up and why my friends hate good music
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends in Bushburg or old NYU haunts or with work friends in (sigh) Murray Hill
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't really wear my heart on my sleeve, brain is a different story.

If I think something is interesting I will really geek out about it to an almost OCD level, but I'm secretly a dilettante on a lot of subjects. Fortunately, I can BS/logic my way into seeming like I know what I'm talking about. Which can be dangerous for all parties involved.

I'm a believer in the wisdom of crowds but not always comfortable being part of one, except maybe in a pit; tend to be late to the party and I'm ok with that.

That French Montana song Pop That is my jam. I will act the fool on the dance floor if that comes up. God, the video and lyrics to that are so horribly, hilariously misogynist/objectifying, but the beat and hook are next level catchy. Even Drake has a great verse. Also I like to pretend Weezy says "Young Mullah Baby!" at the end.

I've been obsessing over the Questions part of this site. I won't change an answer if we disagree, but I will write an explanation of my thought process. Sometimes change what answers I'll accept if you have a really great explanation. You can sort by Questions with Explanations if that's your jam.

The only things I was not allowed to watch growing up were The Simpsons and South Park. Still not entirely clear on why. Caught up on SP but I still might not get your Simpsons reference (sorry).

I am enthralled by people who cry in public. Especially in NYC. Especially on the subway.

I am equally sure that I have seen every episode of Seinfeld via reruns and paranoid that I've missed one. Some day I will break down and watch them all in order; it will be sad and hilarious.

I'm garbage at self-editing, that's probably pretty apparent by now...
You should message me if
Zardoz. What?!?!? How?!? Why?!?!??!?

Or if you can tell me if these tattoo ideas are brilliant, dumb, or just douchey:

Muted Post Horn Tramp Stamp

The three sofas from In Camera over the heart.

Vltava river in Prague winding with red benches floating down river then a yellow one, then a blue one

The bull/woman from Chauvet Cave
The two of us
