My self-summary
I aspire to be as funny as Pheobe Robinson and/or Jessica Williams. I look up to bell hooks, Margaret Atwood, and my mom. My best friend is my brother.

I enjoy attending trivia nights, but am not particularly great at answering any questions correctly. Instead, I bring my humor and charm. I love to read, I enjoy being a couch potato in front of some decent or terrible tv, and I really like long walks. I dread commuting with a passion every day, not even the greatest podcast in all the world can change that.

I'm a *fabulous* procrastinator, a decent multitasker, and I'm terrible at leaving my bed before noon on Saturdays.

Autumn and winter are tied for my favorite season. I enjoy Oreos only when they are stale. I seem to be the only person in the world who doesn't like karaoke.
What I’m doing with my life
Turning my brain into mush by cramming all the books ever into it (grad student).

I used to be a teacher, love being a student again, and pretty ambitious about what I want for the future. Easily intimidated bros need not apply.

Sometimes I do yoga, sometimes I go for a jog, sometimes I read a book, and sometimes I drink beer. Sometimes I go to bed early and sometimes not. Sometimes I am silly, but I can veer towards serious often. Always kind.
I’m really good at
Doing voices while reading stories (tricks of the trade -- former preschool teacher).

Making cards/writing snail mail. It's an art that I want to keep around!

Travel etiquette.

Active listening.

Baking pies!
The first things people usually notice about me
My soul-piercing blue eyes and my apple bottom jeans (this is a hint that I have curves that I like, not that I actually wear apple bottom jeans).

Or, probably that I'm a confident lady person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I have worked at a few bookstores over the years and my interest range has widened because of it. Ask me what I'm reading...I'm always in the middle of something! Trying to read mostly authors from underrepresented populations in the publishing industry. Something worth thinking about:

Movies: I'm sorry to all you film buffs, but I'm not picky. My favorite B-list horror movie is The Descent, if that tells you anything.

Shows: STRANGER THINGS, The OA, just starting to watch The Wire. I'm a big fan of lazy Sundays with bagels and beer and shows and video games and pjs all day.

Music: I do love some 90's hiphop, rap, and boom bap. De La Soul, Big Pun, and Nice & Smooth are being consistently played these days. Pete Philly and Perquisite, Tor, RJD2, Ratatat, and Girltalk make me tap my foot. Justin Timberlake. TI. Big Boi. Frank Ocean. Johnny Polygon. Drake.
St. Vincent, Cold Speck, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell. Mountain Man, Glasser, The Tallest Man on Earth. Jose Gonzalez. Paul Kalkbrenner.
I think maybe one consistent genre that gets played in a variety of moods and times is Jazz. Nothing really past the 70's/80s though...lots of Ella, Django, Bill Evans, and the like. Nina Simone. Dizzy. Thelonious Monk.

Food: It's yummy. Shellfish = death.
The six things I could never do without
1. My passport (family lives overseas and I travel to see them a lot).
2. Clothing that makes me warm in the winter.
3. The kind of book that is so good the pages turn on their own
4. Creativity (not necessarily my own)
5.The feeling of Sunday morning laziness
6. More warm clothing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Daydreaming about life without roommates. Or if it's possible to work a job that I love for a livable wage that does good things to the world. Is it out there??
On a typical Friday night I am
Meh, I don't like this question. Check out this creepy thing I just saw:
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I believe in the mole people!
You should message me if
You're not trying to be the coolest person ever. You're genuine and kind.

Social justice is yer thing.

You can make me laugh. I'm most attracted to the funny guy.

Disclosure: I am not interested in "ethically nonmonagomous" relationships.
