My self-summary
I will never say things like:

-I love to laugh!
-I enjoy exploring the city!
-anything about a "partner in crime"

Here's what I do have to say:

I enjoy attending trivia nights, but am not particularly great at answering any questions correctly. Instead, I bring my humor and charm.

I love to read, I enjoy being a couch potato in front of some decent or terrible tv, and I really like long walks. I dread commuting with a passion every day, and not even the greatest podcast in all the world can change that (except for maybe one that I just discovered called "My Favorite Murder").

I'm a *fabulous* procrastinator, a decent multitasker, and I am a social butterfly who can't wait to get into bed at the end of the night. I'd rather leave a party while it's still going strong (maybe right after its peak) rather than be a straggler.

I dream of building my own house one day but I have trouble finding studs in walls, hammering without hitting my fingers, and have never touched a saw.

If it's a nice and sunny day out, I will be outside from morning til bed. If it's snowy, it's quite the opposite situation.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing my Master's thesis and working as a consultant for the NYC Department of Education.

I used to be a teacher, love being a student again, and pretty ambitious about what I want for the future.

I'm not into a 10-year plan of career-ness or anything, but more have ideas about what kind of life I want to lead, the places I want to see, the people I want to include. Meandering with direction.
I’m really good at
Being an ambivert. Fuck the Meyers Briggs test.

Storytelling with gusto.

Travel and commuting etiquette. If you leave your seatback reclined during mealtimes on an overseas flight or think it's ok to keep your bookbag on while on a crowded subway train, we won't get along.

Teaching little kiddos.
The first things people usually notice about me
My soul-piercing blue eyes and my apple bottom jeans (this is a hint that I have curves that I like, not that I actually wear apple bottom jeans).

Or, probably that I'm a confident lady person.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I have worked at a few bookstores over the years and my interest range has widened because of it. Ask me what I'm reading...I'm always in the middle of something! Trying to read mostly authors from underrepresented populations in the publishing industry. Something worth thinking about:

Movies: I'm sorry to all you film buffs, but I'm not picky. My favorite B-list horror movie is The Descent, if that tells you anything.

Shows: Stranger Things 4ever. I like that tv nowadays is smart and engaging, not just worth vegging out on. I'm a big fan of lazy Sundays with bagels and beer and shows and video games and pjs all day.

Music: I do love some 90's hiphop, rap, and boom bap. De La Soul, Big Pun, and Nice & Smooth are being consistently played these days. Pete Philly and Perquisite, Tor, RJD2, Ratatat, and Girltalk make me tap my foot. Justin Timberlake. TI. Big Boi. Frank Ocean. Johnny Polygon. Drake.
St. Vincent, Cold Speck, Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell. Mountain Man, Glasser, The Tallest Man on Earth. Jose Gonzalez. Paul Kalkbrenner.
I think maybe one consistent genre that gets played in a variety of moods and times is Jazz. Nothing really past the 70's/80s though...lots of Ella, Django, Bill Evans, and the like. Nina Simone. Dizzy. Thelonious Monk.

Food: It's yummy. Shellfish = death.
Six things I could never do without
1. My passport (family lives overseas and I travel to see them a lot).
2. Clothing that makes me warm in the winter.
3. The kind of book that is so good the pages turn on their own
4. Creativity (not necessarily my own)
5.The feeling of Sunday morning laziness
6. More warm clothing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm a classic friendly daydreamer (so I think about everything and nothing all the time) with a classic resting bitch face. Most frequently I'm thinking about a hypothetical luxury vacation that I'll probably never take, but I'll look like I want to murder you.
On a typical Friday night I am
My ideal Friday night includes a yoga class or a jog, cooking dinner (leisurely with much wine), and sleep. Somewhere in there's a book or movie and a friend or two, or perhaps just me and that's also nice too.

But many Fridays I end up at a happy hour, several drinks under my belt by 8pm, ordering thai food on my way home, asleep by 10pm.

I'm working on balance.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not a karaoke person (and will never be), but try not to announce this is public because it evokes opinions and questions. Many people on this site seem to have strong feelings about how aMaZiNg and *fun* karaoke is, so I divulge this secret in hopes that we can move past it swiftly.
You should message me if
You're not trying to be the coolest person ever. You're genuine and kind.

Social justice is yer thing.

You can make me laugh. I'm most attracted to the funny guy.

Disclosure: I am not interested in "ethically nonmonagomous" relationships.
