My self-summary
I spent the first 35 years of my life striving for independence. And, like any good overachiever, I did a damn good job reaching the extreme point on the self-sufficiency spectrum. But then the game changed in such an unexpected way. I was given a gift few are fortunate enough to receive -- a blank canvas. Uncertain how to proceed, I ventured into exploration mode.

I was walking down the passageway of my live aboard, headed for the third morning dive off the Great Barrier Reef. And I was flooded with emotion. Emotion is a bit unfamiliar to uber-rational, overeducated, logical workaholics. Particularly ones who have objectivist leanings, but I digress. I was overwhelmed with a sense of childlike wonder; over-the-top happiness; all-is-right-in-the-world perspective. It was like I had been living life looking through a microscope, and I finally looked up. In that moment, I rediscovered who I was, without all the social, cultural and educational trappings...
What I’m doing with my life
So that was the beginning of my journey back to me. When you ask me what I *feel*, I no longer tell you what I *think*. Yes, I am really f#*$ing good at business. Yes, my mind works through problems, permutations and strategies at the speed of light. Yes, I will always be building and creating. But I am no longer compelled to be doing and perfecting and competing on that ever-accelerating hamster wheel--I do so when it serves me and when it's fun.

While I will always be a complete individual, I am creating a life of interdependence and finding my life partner is my priority. I have extraordinary people in my life--I just need that extraordinary man who wants to copilot a life of adventure in a nonconventional way...while mastering the conventional. Who appreciates the obscure details...and is in awe of synchronicity. Who excels at the pragmatic...but dives into the quest for adrenaline-inducing highs. Who takes life seriously....with a great sense of humor. Who delves deep into the spiritual...while embracing the sensual. Who is constantly testing his physical limits. A man who is a master, creating with his mind, his diligence, his body. A man who has more passions than time. Who wants to light up the world!

We both need one another as the solid foundation from which to launch even further--to expand our capacity as individuals. We are mental sparring partners, challenging beliefs; we are love, piercing the depths of body and soul; we are open, honest, always, because that is true intimacy.

A few details: splitting time between Chicago and SoCal, building a retail wellness biz that can be scaled, never-practicing attorney (JD-MBA), co-founded an animal welfare org that has become a model and remain very involved, love watching sports, super active (snowboarding, diving, learning to kitesurf, been wanting to get into climbing...), fitness is a huge part of my life.
I’m really good at
...being well-rounded. Athletic with an intellect. Workaholic yet fun. Strength training. Writing. Creating. Restructuring. Being open minded. Adventuring!
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm articulate. I'm happy. I smile a lot. I'm outgoing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Ayn Rand, classics, business. Movies: light, funny--anything for mental escape. Music: a little of everything--mellowing with age but still harbor a love of Social Distortion. Food: Abandoned vegetarianism for paleo. Talk about polar opposites! Pretty much gluten- and dairy-free.
The six things I could never do without
- Pets (not really things, but essential!)
- Apple products
- King size comfy bed (guess I could survive without, but really never want to!)
- CONNECTION! You just never can tell when it will surface, but it's immediately evident.
- New perspectives
- Frequent travel/adventure
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Metaphysical/spiritual reality, my business, proper role and function of government, food and being 98% gluten- and dairy-free, fitness and strength conditioning, saving homeless pets, the NFL, my Cubbies finally breaking that losing streak...
On a typical Friday night I am
At dinner with friends/family or decompressing from the week.

Yes, sometimes I'm working:)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My mom read my journal when I was in college, detailing my *adventures* with men to that point...I've recovered.
